Doug November 12, 2013 for Model Number kscs25fkss01 My freezer temp is 0 degrees, Refer is 41 degrees. Leafy produce in crisper freezes . Is it the damper?
1 Answer Doug, Probably not. It sounds more like an air flow issue, not a temperature problem. Check and make sure both doors close and seal properly to the cabinet flange(especially along the bottom of the doors). Check and make sure there are no articles hanging over the sides of the shelves or against the back wall of the compartment, this traps the cold air down low and can cause the crispers to freeze. Check the top shelf, make sure there's nothing tall or bulky setting in front of the damper vent in the left rear top corner. Something in front of the vent can cause the air from the damper to be directed down the back or side wall(s) and cause the crisper area to become too cold. The lower area of the refrigerator, is usually 2 or 3 degrees colder than the upper area of the compartment, cold air migrates down, if the air gets trapped and can't flow properly, you'll notice that the crispers and lower shelves have a tendency to freeze. Dmlaughlin September 06, 2013 for Model Number ED5LHEXTDOO My refrigerator is not staying cold and the door gasket needs to be replaced but I noticed that when the freezer door is( open ) the cold air flows through the air vent ( left inside wall near the back in the refrigerator ) but when I close the freezer door I ( can not ) feel the cold air flowing through the vent..... can you tell me what that part is and what does it do?
1 Answer Hello DMLaughlin. That usually means there is a defrost issue, or the leaking gasket has caused the coils to be blocked with ice. The baffle is the passage for the air. It is not bad based on your description. Read More...
