I read all the information regarding the probable cause and it indicated a possible replacement of the door gasket. I Installed the gasket and cleaned the washer well but it still leaked. I only had one thing to check and that was the vent in the upper right of the washer. When opened it was full of (I assume soap residue) and cleaned it. Leaking stopped. Although the gasket was not the direct problem the old one was in poor condition and I left the new one in place.
