With whole house filtration and reverse osmosis attached to the refrigerator supply line, a $35 filter for the refrigerator seemed pretty redundant. I looked up my model. I found Appliance Parts Pros on line. I placed a order for a bypass that cost less than the filter replacement and replaced the filter saving me over $75 per year. No tools needed. The replacement snapped in as easily as the original and took less effort than writing this review. I selected pliers as the tool I used, because the stupid form wouldn't list hands.

Found a replacement part to bypass the filter and I recieved it 2 days later and my fridge is up and running!!

Remove the old one and insert the bypass filter

I purchased the "by-pass" refrigerator filter that looks identical to the "pur" filter that the refrigerator requires. Then I installed a large under sink water filter system that I plumbed for ONLY the water going to the refrigerator. The complete filter system kit was only $36.00 and requires a filter change every 2 yrs when used for sink and refrigerator water. So I probably won't have to replace the filter but every 3-4 yrs. the big bonus is now I have great water water pressure from the fridge door and finally have "solid" ice cubes again.
