Daniel G El Paso , TX January 24, 2021 Appliance: Frigidaire Freezer FFU20FC4AW1 My Frigidaire frost free commercial freezer was screeching louder than the wheels on my radio flyer red wagon when it was overloaded with 5 cent return for deposit coca cola bottles back in the 1960's In short - I replaced the evaporator fan motor and the evaporator fan blade. The Appliance Parts Pros website was extremely helpful to me. Here's how. 1. The site helped me identify that even though my Freezer says it's a Frigidaire, it's actually an Electrolux. 2. The site identified the potential screech causing parts. (I didn't take a chance, I bought all three) It was a worthwhile investment. My freezer is 20 years old so it deserved some help. 3. The site provided guidance videos (not exactly for each model but good enough to guide correctly). 4. The site delivered my parts (which were in stock) (which I paid air fare) in literally less than 24 hours. 5. The fan motor and evaporator fan were replaced first and the screeching stopped but I replaced the compressor run capacitor for good measure. 6. The repair was simple 10 each 3/4" sheet metal screws were removed and later replaced about 2 minutes combined. (holds the back metal cover over condenser coil). 7. 2 each rubber gaskets (36" long) were pulled off and pushed back in place in about 2 minutes combined. 8. 2 screws were removed from the fan motor holding chassis and tossed out. The fan came off with the motor. A new fan and motor were installed with new screws (old ones don't have the same thread - don't reuse) about 5 minutes combined. 9. Installed shelves and reloaded the freezer. 10. 1 each Philips screwdriver and 1 each 1/4" hollow shaft nut driver. No complaints from me...thank you appliance parts pros. My wife's complaint..." you made me take everything out of the freezer and place it in the refrigerator only to tell me to put it back in 10 minutes? We could have just put it on the table! Add another 20 minutes to your " "done in ten minutes honey" " 10. More than 5 Stars; much more than 5 Stars!!!! M. H Madison , MS December 08, 2020 Appliance: Frigidaire Freezer FFU17FC4CW1 Controller and capacitor that start the compressor in our freezer failed and burned causing burning plastic smell. An appliance repairman came to diagnose the issue causing the burning smell and the reason the 17- year old Frigidaire freezer was not cooling. He plugged the freezer back in and it immediately flamed up revealing the failed power overload controller. He tested the controller and the attached capacitor and found they had both failed. He quoted $556 to replace the failed parts to resolve the issue. We initially decided the replace the whole freezer given its age, but due to the China virus, there are currently no new freezers available anywhere in the area, and we were told it would be months before we could get a new one. I searched the internet and found replacement parts. The new parts are different from the original 17-year old as they have been upgraded. I called the parts seller to see if these were parts an inexperienced person could install, and the person recommended checking YouTube for instructional videos to see if I was comfortable trying it. I found the video on the Appliance Parts Pros website, and it appeared to be a very simple procedure, especially since I was repairing a freezer with much more room to work than the refrigerator repaired in the video. The video also helped me understand there was little danger that I would cause bigger issues that might result in a house fire or other serious issue. I checked Appliance Parts Pros and found the parts were considerably less expensive, so I ordered them, and got them within a few days after a delay by FedEx. It took me about half an hour to replace the parts. It would have taken half that if I had a heat gun when I started the repair. The freezer is now working fine. Robert D Mount Pleasant , MI July 06, 2014 Freezer was not freezing I ordered the run capacitor, based on AppliancePartPro's 5 most common problems listing this part as the probable cause. Being just before the July 4th holiday, I couldn't get a repair person out for 1.5 weeks. If this didn't fix it, I was going to have to go out and buy a new freezer just to save all the food. This saved my couple year old 24.9CuFt freezer from ending up in a landfill. I am going to order another one just to have on-hand so the next time isn't an emergency. This makes my 5th major appliance I have diagnosed and repaired using he resources on appliancepartspros.com and will come back to them the next time for sure! Gary G Ofallon , MO July 12, 2015 This was for a friend of mine his refrigerator stopped cooling This was a 2000 model so rather than just replace the defrost timer which was visibly burnt on the terminals, we just did everything. The cold control, defrost timer, thermostat, defrost heater and the compressor capacitor were all replaced. I had the same issue on my older unit and tore it apart replacing one item at a time over a three month period so on an older one i suggest do it all while it is apart. Maurice M Millinocket , ME July 17, 2014 Appliance: Model 253.28432800 Freezer completely stop working I went to the "appliancepartspros" web site (which I used before to order other appliance parts) and used the "Repair Help Section" to troubleshoot for the problem I was having.......it pointed to the most likely solution, the Compressor Run Capacitor, so I ordered the Capacitor which I received in less than two days. I replaced the Run Capacitor which was in plain sight in the back of the Stand-up Freezer in less than 10 minutes, plug the freezer back to its power source and that was the end of the problem.......the Freezer is working fine again.
