Defrost timer not working on older (beer) fridge

Ordered new timer and replaced. very easy. 2 screws, 4 wires with push on connectors. had to tip fridge back and put 2x4 under to make room to remove and replace timer took maybe 10 minutes

Appliance: Model 12 CF FROST FREE 25 YEARS OLD

My GE frost free was not cooling enough, 50 degrees

Opened freezer bottom and found completely iced up with compressor running and coil warm as normal. Also found heater burnt thru after I defrosted overnight. Replaced defrost timer and heater for under $200. All fixed !??

No defrosting was happening

We went to the Appliance PrartsPros web site and entered the problem. The resolution for our refrigerator was the two items suggested.
