Ira W Grantsville , UT April 01, 2020 Cooling fan burned up. I had to take the top panels off and two back panels off. Took off about thirty screws. It was very dirty and dusty inside so I took the lower panels off as well to clean and vacuum it. The hardest part was getting the double oven out of the cabinet. Overall it was very doable. George P Driftwood , TX June 25, 2021 Appliance: Model JT5500SP3SS Error code F96 on GE oven jt5500sp3ss To replace the cooling fan which is located on the upper back left of the oven, it required removing the oven and 3 metal panels. To remove the oven the best way was to remove the oven doors first which will reduce the weight significantly. Once I did this it was much easier to left the oven by myself and move on a self made stand. After the removal of the metal panels there were 4 screws to remove the metal plate holding the fan to oven, 2 electrical plugs, and then another 4 screws to remove the fan from the metal plate. After a little cleaning to remove some grease and replacing the fan (also replaced the Hall Effect module but I don't think this was bad), it was easy to put back into the oven reversing the process. Also please remember to remove power during this process. Read More... 7 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers

Jay S Carrollton , TX January 02, 2026 Appliance: General Electric Electric Wall Oven JK5500SF3SS F96 error code on ge double oven I Googled the error code and found out it was most likely the fan blower. I shopped and found one at AppliancePartsPros. I ordered it and got it two days later. I found a good YouTube video for changing out the blower. I fillowed it and changed out the blower without a hitch. I removed the oven doors to lighten it prior to removing. I did it myself but it is a two person job without an oven dolly. It now works like a champ! Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
David T Elizabeth Cty , NC January 02, 2026 Appliance: General Electric Electric Oven W/Microwave JT3800SH4SS Lower oven displayed cooling fan error message no code Microwave over Oven combo. Read that running a self cleaning might clean grease off the cooling fan. Fan did run in self cleaning mode. More research found fan has two speeds. Removed oven door, panels and pulled both units part way out. Disconnected microwave connectors and lifted it off the oven. Removed fan cover. Fan didn't feel like it was turning free. Used an AC test cable to test the fan. Wouldn't turn on one connection and slowly on the other. Fan bad. Removed back panel to access all screws, disconnected the fan rotation sensor. Ordered new fan, received it in just two days FedEx! Installed and all ran great. (Only had four screws left over) Should have taken pictures as I was talking it apart. Read More...
