Arturo B Mount Prospect , IL November 29, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Gas Range JGRP17WEW5WW Regulator malfunction I replaced the Gas Pressure Regulator. I had no previous experience replacing one. So as a novice I immediately ran into a problem with removing the old one. Had to bend a metal flange that was holding it in place, just to get it out. Suffice it to say that it wasn't easy getting it out. But, finally did, then had to remove the gas piping that connected it to old regulator to be used with the new one. Which required me to use a vise because it was on extremely tight. Luckily I had one in the garage otherwise I would have had to buy new piping. Well, with the old piping now off, I immediately transferred them to the new regulator. Cleaned piping and added the necessary piping compound, as required. Then, it was back to bending the flange so as to reconnect it into the back elements of the oven itself. Tightened securely and tested oven, it seems to be working fine. Will check several times to insure that no gas leaks are present. The worse part of this job was that I had just paid Sears Appliance Repair to fix this problem, and they couldn't find the problem. They charged me $109 to diagnose the condition and found no fault. I am still pissed, about that. So, sometimes it is better to do it yourself.
