Scraper blade on my craftsman snow blower was worn to the point the bolts were gone and the blade was catching the augers Martin D. • Monroe , MI • February 11, 2022
Removed old scraper blade. Filed away bent edges where casing was worn. Installed new scraper blade and bolts. added a backing plate to body where erosion occurred. East repair. Best part was that big snowstorm was forecast for Wednesday night. 12-18 inches expected. Parts arrived on Wednesday morning, right at time predicted. I was up and running before the snow hit (actually only got 6 inches. So much for the Storm of the Century)

This is a flanged lock nut. It’s designed to apply tension, typically on a joint that needs to have a certain amount of flex. As such, it’s mostly used on snowblower chutes and lawnmower handles. They can remain in place, but with a forgiving connection that can take a beating. The nut size is 3/8, with a thread size of 16. A lock nut will generally last for many years. However, the silicone ring inside will wear down if it’s frequently tightened and loosened. It needs to be replaced when it will no longer reliably remain in place. Generally, this begins as a symptom of slight slippage and worsens as time goes on. Thankfully, whether it’s being used on a snowblower or a lawnmower, this nut is generally straightforward to access. Simply unscrew the old nut, then screw the new nut on until it’s nice and tight. Our flanged lock nuts are genuine OEM MTD nuts, and they are sold individually.

A flange lock nut, also known as a flange lock or a lock nut, is created to be used in various types of lawn and garden equipment. This flange lock nut holds other parts in place and, when properly threaded, will resist loosening. Over time, a flange lock nut may begin to weaken and may become loose or break. If it appears to be broken or weak, a replacement is required. Flange locks can be adjusted and uninstalled after use. When replacement is required, you may need a socket set, screwdriver, hacksaw, and butane torch. The socket wrench will loosen the bolt it is connected to, while the torch is used to heat the lock nut. A socket wrench may remove the nut, but sometimes cutting it with a hacksaw is required. This flange lock nut is a genuine OEM component directly from the manufacturer and comes in an individual unit. It is made of metal, a gold color, and can be found in various areas of lawn equipment. It works with lawnmowers, trimmers, snowblowers, cultivators, tillers, and leaf blowers by Poulan, MTD, Toro, Cub Cadet, Murray, Troy-Bilt, Bolens, Yard Machines, Craftsman, and Yard-Man.

This is a versatile screw designed with flanged hex head and double-lead threads. It is a high-low self-tapping screw with one thread that is high and the other low for easier penetration. The twin threads also reduce the amount of material displaced when the screw is driven into the material. This type of screw also creates a firmer grip. This screw can also be used to secure a newly installed front cover or grill. This part is available as an individual replacement part. It is a genuine OEM part for use with specific models of snow throwers, lawn tractors, electric mowers, chippers, and log splitters from Bolens, Cub Cadet, Craftsman, Poulan, Ryobi, Toro, MTD, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, and Yard-Man.

This is a shoulder screw that is used to secure the handles of yard equipment. Typically, this screw is used with a matching wing nut, which is sold separately. Many different varieties of push lawn mowers have handles that fold downward for ease of storage. This is one of the locations on a mower where one will find shoulder bolts and the point at which these bolts are most likely wear out. While they are made of durable machined metal, shoulder bolts receive a great deal of wear, particularly from the handles being raised and lowered each time the mower is used. When pushing down on the mower to clear wet grass clippings or to make sharp turns with the mower, the entire weight of the mower is put on the two shoulder screws where they intersect. Since the metal of the handles can turn at that juncture, extra shearing action is put on the shoulder bolts, which can wear out. It is actually advantageous that the bolts wear out since otherwise, the handles themselves would warp and break apart. These OEM genuine replacement parts fit a number of different lawn and garden machines, including many made by Cub Cadets, Husky, Troy-Bilt, Craftsman, Yard-Man, Bolens, MTD, and Yard-Machines.

This is a genuine wing nut replacement designed for use in select walk-behind lawn mowers. Although some wing nuts are considered standard hardware on lawn mowers and other equipment, this specific wing nut connects to a bolt and secures the front baffle to the deck of the mower. Over time, this plastic wing nut can crack, fall off, or the threads may become damaged. This will result in the mover assembly being affected and the unit may not be able to be used until the nut has been properly replaced. This genuine replacement part will provide the exact fit for compatible mowers. This genuine OEM wing nut is manufactured to exact standards and comes from MTD. It can be used with hundreds of walk-behind lawn mower models from the brand, as well as those from Cub Cadet, Ryobi, Troy-Bilt, Bolens, Yard Man, Yard Machines, and Huskee. This plastic wing nut is sold individually. The carriage bolt that it connects to will need to be purchased separately if that also needs to be replaced. No tools are required for this installation, as it can simply be hand-tightened into place. Wear gloves for hand protection when performing equipment repairs.
