Personally I have experience working with electricity and knowing if I bought the part required this would be an easy fix. I determined the hidden bake element below the oven cavity was not working, because the bottom of the oven was cold during normal use. If you have a built-in microwave + oven combination (mine is KitchenAid Model No. KEMS308SSS05), this is a difficult repair. The engineer who designed this oven should be invited to succeed elsewhere. Followed the instructions that came with the replacement part: made sure stove top was unpowered, unscrewed the old housing from the stove top, cut the wires, stripped some insulation off, attached the new wires with the (accompanying) wire nuts, attached new housing to stove top. Read more

I was going to just throw my stove out and get a new one until I did some research. Full disassembly of removable tray into top plate (stainless) and lower pan taking care not to loose fasteners. Removal of terminal blocks using lubrication on rusted screws and, if necessary, drill out technique. Unclip wires from edges of the tray on both sides without losing the clips for future re-use. Top plate is now completely free of connections and may be cleaned/scrubbed separately in advance of re-assembly. Unfasten spade insulation block (located in the front of the tray) after... After an appliance repairman said he couldn't fix it because the cartridge was no longer available, I called AppliancePartsPros.com.
