Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Didn't heat.   Harry W. • Maple Park , IL • January 21, 2018

My son told me that almost all the microwave ovens that came into the repair center he worked at, 15 years ago, had a defective magnetron. I ordered a magnetron, and sat back until one shipped. The one that came, the first time, was in a small factory cardboard box, which was in a large bubble-pak Fedex envelope; which didn't show any signs of abuse. Inside, however, the factory box was beat up. Removing the magnetron, I noticed that the socket, as well as its' pins, was bent, and loose in the... Read more

Microwave Diode
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 6021W3B001V

Microwave won't heat or makes loud buzzing noise? The diode regulates magnetron current flow. Simple repair—test with multimeter for continuity.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Our microwave made a "pop" sound and stopped working/   Daniel D. • Chesterfield , MO • September 12, 2020

I have a multimeter so I was able to check the fuse per website recommendations and it was blown. However, the capacitor on the microwave was also original so I elected to replace the capacitor, fuse, and the ground protect diode. The repair was very simple (making sure the capacitor was discharged before replacing) and the microwave is now up and running again. Excellent trade to buy $40 worth of parts rather than a new $400 microwave. One nit - Kenmore puts a screw in the back that... Read more

Fix F4 error codes or sensor cook failures with this microwave humidity sensor. Restores automatic cooking cycles. Moderate DIY difficulty.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave would not microwave   Richard E. • Cape Coral , FL • January 05, 2020

Replaced the Humidity sensor, Thermistor and door switches. I replaced these thinking the problem was one of the items but didn't want to trial and error one part at a time. Plus the cost was reasonable so if these didn't help I wasn't out a lot of money. I sense the door switch was the problem. Replaced all items and the microwave works great. Thanks for the advice and the cost of the parts. Read more

Thermistor (Temperature Sensor)
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 6322W2A001A

Thermistor is a temperature-sensing replacement that monitors refrigerator and freezer temperatures so the control board can regulate cooling. Replacing a faulty thermistor restores accurate temperature readings and helps stabilize cooling performance. What it does:

  • Senses interior/evaporator temperature and sends a signal to the control board for temperature regulation.
  • Helps prevent erratic cooling, long run-times, or inconsistent compartment temperatures when operating correctly.
  • Faulty thermistors can contribute to excessive frost, failed defrost cycles, or compressor cycling issues.
  • Use when the existing sensor fails to report correct temperatures or the part number matches.
What's included: One thermistor sensor. Install notes:
  • Always disconnect power to the appliance before servicing to avoid shock or damage.
  • The sensor is typically mounted on or near the evaporator or inside a cabinet wall; access may require removing panels or covers.
  • Handle the sensor and wiring harness gently; avoid pulling on wires or bending the sensor element.

Screw, Tapping, Truss Head (Single)
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 1TTG0402422

This is a truss-head tapping screw used to secure trim, panels, and small assemblies on compatible LG appliances. It provides a low-profile, wide-bearing head that helps hold parts flush and resist pull-through. What it does:

  • Fastens plastic and sheet-metal components where a self-tapping thread is needed
  • Truss head spreads load to prevent damage to soft or thin materials
  • Helps secure control panels, brackets, or trim pieces that require a low-profile head
  • Common replacement when original mounting screws are missing, stripped, or corroded
What's included:
  • One truss-head tapping screw
Install notes:
  • Use the correct screwdriver bit and moderate torque to avoid stripping the screw or workpiece

  • Disconnect power and follow appliance-specific service safety procedures before working internally
  • Replace any damaged mating threads or clips for a secure fit

Fan Blade
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 3B72559A

This Fan Blade is an OEM part for LG microwaves. It is a critical component designed to circulate air within the microwave, aiding in heat dissipation and ensuring even cooking.

Fan blades in microwaves can suffer from wear, imbalance, or damage due to regular use or accumulation of debris. A malfunctioning fan blade can lead to inadequate ventilation, affecting the microwave's cooking efficiency and potentially causing overheating.

Symptoms of a bad fan blade include:

  • Unusual noises during operation, such as rattling or buzzing, indicate a loose or damaged blade.
  • The microwave overheating or shutting off prematurely.
  • Inconsistent cooking or hot spots in food suggest poor air circulation.
  • The fan not starting, or stopping unexpectedly during use.
  • Visible signs of damage or wear on the blade.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with some Sears/Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Interior light and turntable failed at the same moment.   Stacey B. • New Bern , NC • February 01, 2021

Knowing the odds of 2 failures occurring at the same exact time was unusually high, I just searched your site for what other broken items might affect these two failures. Circulating Motor (Air Circulation Motor)
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 6549W1S013A

A direct-replacement circulating motor that moves air inside the refrigerator cabinet to help maintain even temperatures and consistent cooling. Replacing a worn motor restores airflow and can reduce warm spots and uneven cooling. What it does:

  • Drives internal airflow to distribute cold air between compartments for more uniform temperatures.
  • Restores circulation when a failed motor causes weak or no airflow.
  • Common, safe-to-report symptoms: uneven cooling, warm spots in the fridge, the appliance running more than usual, or unusual humming/noise from the cabinet.
  • Works with the appliance's wiring harness and mounting system to deliver continuous air movement while the cooling system runs.
What's included: One circulating motor. Install notes:
  • Always unplug the appliance before beginning service to avoid electric shock.
  • Handle the motor and fan blades carefully to avoid bending or damage; keep fingers and tools clear of blades.
  • Confirm correct connector orientation and secure mounting to prevent vibration or rubbing.
  • After installing, power up briefly to verify the motor runs and the fan spins freely before reassembling panels.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Kitchenaid microwave plate stopped turning   Joan N. • Portland , OR • October 16, 2016

Turned the microwave on its back. Took a hammer and screwdriver to punch out the small access door for the motor, unscrewed two screws holding the motor and unplugged the the wiring harness. Attached the new motor with the two screws and plugged the wiring harness back on. Finally, attach the access door with the screw. It took longer to punch out the access door than to actually install the motor. Read more

Lug (Circular)
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 4B72510F

A circular lug designed to join a stripped wire to a threaded terminal for a secure electrical connection. Helps restore reliable contact at terminals and reduces the chance of intermittent power or arcing at connection points. What it does:

  • Provides a strong mechanical and electrical connection between a wire and a screw or bolt terminal.
  • Helps prevent loose connections that can cause intermittent operation, sparking, or overheating.
  • Commonly used where a ring-style termination is required for safe, stable wiring.
  • Works with properly sized wire and fasteners to maintain consistent conductivity.
What's included: One circular lug. Install notes:
  • Always disconnect power to the appliance before inspecting or replacing electrical parts.
  • Use the correct lug size and gauge for the wire and terminal; crimp or solder per manufacturer recommendations.
  • Tighten terminal hardware to the appliance manufacturer's specified torque; avoid over-tightening which can damage the lug or terminal.
  • If wiring insulation or the terminal is damaged or corroded, replace the affected components rather than reusing them.
