Questions & Answers

For Bosch Dishwasher Drain Pump (Part Number: OEM13018797)

1 Answer

Shred, Yes, you will want to go in from the bottom of the unit and pull the drain pump out if you are unable to use needle nose pliers to get it from the top. Once you have the drain pump out then the glass should come out.

Hi, Our Bosch was having issues starting. Sometimes we'd close the door and it would start, but other times it would not. When it did not start, the machine would typically beep after 1-2 seconds as if it had completed the cycle. Eventually, the dishwasher stopped working altogether so I replaced the main control board. The dishwasher initially worked for a few days, but now it is doing the same thing and will not start at all. I'm wondering if the drain pump needs to be replaced. I've pulled the drain pump and it is showing a resistance of 88 ohms across the terminals. What should the resistance be for a new drain pump? Any other things I can troubleshoot? Thank you!

Rich, I would check the door switches and the wiring connections first. The drain pump should not be the issue unless it is not pumping out or if there is a leak causing the flood switch to open.

Tim, Check to see if there is power (120vac) getting to the motor. If not use the tech sheet for diagnostics or to trace back to where you are losing the power.

Mark, You will want to test to see if there is a constant 120 Vac to the drain pump and if there is not then the issue will be with the control board.

Coach, On the dishwasher at the bottom there should be a tech sheet somewhere behind the access panel. Using the tech sheet you will need to test the drain pump motor from the main control board to see if there is 120 Vac from the control board to the pump and if there is and the unit is not draining then the issue will be the drain pump.

Just got a new to us dishwasher. When we turn it on there is a LOUD whining sound when it starts the drain part of the cycle. Seems to move the water when on drain as I can hear the water going into the sink. I verified it is drain cycle by filling it up with water then lifting the float to activate drain. Does move the water, but makes a screeching noise. If I keep it draining with no water (for only a second) it does not screech without water going through drain pump.

James, It would sound likely that either there is something caught in the drain or the impeller is slipping on the shaft of the pump and would need to replace the pump.

Hi, I think maybe I wasn't clear in my last question. The dishwasher DOES drain and runs normally for one cycle. However, after running one cycle, trying to run another cycle results in the dishwasher indicating "clean" after a minute or two. If I remove the drain pump and reinstall, it will then run normally again for one cycle. I replaced the drain pump but the issue is still the same. I was wondering if this had to do with the small amount of water in the sump which leaks out when I remove the pump, or if it is something else. Sorry if I was unclear. If this doesn't make sense I could call in and ask.

Dave, Thank you for the clarification. With this new information, it is possible that the turbidity sensor could be causing this issue.

Dave, The turbidity sensor would not cause the unit to drain and will most likely be an issue with the main control board.

Hello Kent. Check the float switch and float and make sure they are not sticking first. If all is good, then you will need to replace the control board on the unit. Thank you.

Jason, You will want to check to see if there is 120 vac getting to the pump and if there is not then the main board will be the issue.
