Dan H. September 25, 2012 for Model Number 401.85044010 I have a Kenmore 401.85044010 and the door will not stay shut. Do I just need a spring? Do I need the latch AP4224753 or do I need this part AP4225495? I am kind of confused. I just don't know what to order.
1 Answer Hi. The actuator switch Item # DE96-00414A is the receiver of the male door latch. You can remove the front upper grill. Then remove the plate cover above the control panel. Then remove the top screw that holds the control panel. Lift up and out on the control panel. Some have a large enough green ground wire to carefully support the total weight of the panel. Then you can look into the cabinet and physically latch and unlatch the door. Look at the parts as they function together. When you open the door and lift up on the door latch part # DE64-00760A it will have spring part # DE61-00048A tension holding it naturally in the down position.
