Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Temperature Sensor (Part Number: OEM12406710)

1 Answer

Hello Alicia. It sounds like the unit is not defrosting. With Samsung, if the heater is out, it is an HVAC repair and you will need a technician. They make the heaters into the evaporator assembly.

Jose for Model Number RM255LASH

I Have a Samsung Quatro 4 door refrigerator. Everything is working except for the Top Left freezer Compartment, which is about 20 degrees F and the ice tray is not releasing the ice into the bucket. It does not matter at what temperature (eg. -2F to -14F or Power freeze) I set the top left freezer it won't only reach 15 degrees F max! It is my understanding that the ice tray won't empty into the bucket until the freezer reaches a temperature of 10 degrees F or Lower. I have replaced the following items: Main PCB Board part Number DA41-00318A (purchased it from this site) Defrost Bimetalic Thermostat switch which is located on the side of the freezer coil (P/N DA47-00133E) Is this Thermostat switch supposed to read continuity (0 ohms) at ambient temperature of 80 degrees F? I was thinking replacing the Temp sensor or thermistor which is located on the freezer coil upper part. What do you think? What I should do next? Please help me with your advise. Thank you very much, I sincerely appreciate it! Jose

Hello Jose. Best to check the fan and airflow for the compartment. This is the main reason for the issues you are having.

Juanita, You will want to pull the rear cover inside the refrigerator compartment and check to make sure that the coils are not impacted with ice and not allowing proper airflow. If they are impacted with ice then you will want to test the defrost thermistor (which in a lot of cases is the issue) and check the defrost heater. You will use model number RB1944SL to look up the parts.

Jon for Model Number Samsung RS267LASH refrigerator

The evaporator coils on the refrigerator side of my RS267LASH are freezing up. I have tested the heater and it is giving me an ohm rating of ~100, which I believe is correct. I think that the thermistor attached to the refrigerator evaporator coils needs to be replaced. In the service manual, it lists the evaporator thermistor part # as DA32-00006B. On your site, you list the DA32-00006W as the replacement part for the DA32-00006B. But, your site says that DA32-00006W is not compatible with the RS267LASH...so could you please point me to the right part? On a semi-related note, is there a way to get the refrigerator section to shut off while the freezer section continues to run until I can fix this beast? Thanks!

1 Answer

Hello Dan. At room temperature(75 dgrs F.), your thermistor should read 5.1k ohms.

Hello Paul. It sounds like the heater is bad and the evaporator assembly DA96-00017G will need to be replaced. This is an HVAC repair and takes an HVAC tech to do the repair to the unit.

Hello Russell. Not usually. This sounds like a sealed system issue due to the coils in junction with each other in the freezer.

Coolhandluke for Model Number RB215LASH

I have the usual Samsung problem of refrigerator coils icing over making refrigerator compartment heat up. I found the schematic and the parts #6 and #7 but can't readily determine how/where they fit the evaporator coil. I would try to test them to see if they are 'fooling' the mother board into thinking the coil is defrosted when it isn't it..............can you tell me how to do that? Even if I can't test those parts it would be a very small amount of money to risk just to replace them and hope that cures the problem. Any thoughts and help you can provide would be appreciated!

Mario, You will want to pull the rear cover of the freezer compartment and check to see if the evaporator coils are frozen. If impacted with ice then you will want to check the defrost sensor and the heater to make sure that they are ok.

Steve D for Model Number Samsung RB215LABP

Hello! We have been having repeated issues with the refrigerator compartment freezing our food, e.g., temperature dropping down around 10 to 12 degrees (F). We have unplugged the unit and let it sit for 24 - 48 hrs, and then plugged back in. Often it will work for quite a while, and then one day we'll wake up to find it frozen solid. So I tried replacing the temp sensor (AP4136842). After doing that it worked fine for 2 months and now all our food is frozen again. Did I get a bad temp sensor? Or is there another part I should try replacing? I really appreciate this site - thank you for all you do! Steve

1 Answer

Hello Steve. You need to see if the main sensor DA32-10105S needs to be replaced in the unit. If so, it will cause the issue you are having with the unit.
