John for Model Number JGS8860BDP

Hi, your pictured part looks exactly like the failed unit on my Jenn Air range. But I want to be clear, my buttons (touch pad) still work fine, so some of the logic is also good, but it's the display, the electroluminescent display, that's toast (dark). I know these take a special high voltage (e.g. 300 VDC) to illuminate, so I assume this is the issue, on the display itself. Since the pictures are with the item not powered on, it's not obvious that the display unit, where the illuminated temperature and mode would be displayed, is included. I am assuming this is the whole assembly, and does include the display unit in the center. Especially, since the display is pretty tightly secured in the plastic, and I sure haven't seen how it would be removed anyway. Thanks in advance...

This is a Jenn Air gas range...when I attempted to turn on the oven I heard a quick snap, and consequently the oven would not ignite..I subsequently accessed the igniter to find the sheathing had worn through and apparently touch the framing only to create a what I presume was a short..After replacing the the ignitor I turned the oven on and it ignited properly but I could not turn the oven off using the the control panel..I had to turn the oven off via the circuit breaker..It appears all the other functions on the control panel are working, therefore, can I assume the "short" occurred in the control panel and it needs to be replaced?

Ed, Based on this information it does sound like the issue will be that the control board of the unit is faulty and would need replaced.

Peter P, If the functions of the control board are not working then this would most likely be the control board that would need replaced. It would be recommended to first set the oven to bake and see if the igniters come on. If they do not then test for 120 vac at the igniter. If there is not proper power then the control board will be the issue. If the igniter is coming on then test at the oven safety valve for 3.2 to 3.6 vac and if there is not proper power then the igniter is weak and needs replaced and if there is proper power then this would be an oven safety valve that is faulty.

Marty, The power supply for the unit would be located on the terminal block in the back where the cord comes into the unit. If you are needing to know where to check the control board you would test at the S11 connctor which will be a 5 pin connector with 2 wires a black and White, Test from these wire for 120 vac to them. If there is power but the touchpad will not respond then this will be a faulty control board.

Hello Jim. You will need to test for power going to the control board. If there is power there, and the board does not work, you will need to replace the board WP8507P229-60. If the board is working, but the buttons do not work, you will replace the control panel WP5760M339-60 on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Rich, You would want to check to make sure that the ribbon harness on the control board is fully seated but it does sound as though the control panel will need to be replaced [AP4396853.
