Whirlpool Gold Side X Side. Unit has stopped dispensing ice. Had a tech out to fix it but long story short it never got fixed. He did manage to replace one part in the rear of the unit but stated that he didn't have the "other" part. I don't know if he replaced Manufacturer's Number: W10210789 or Manufacturer's Number: W10356039. IDI motor (Manufacturer's Number: W10271506 ) was replaced but did not fix the issue. How do I go about testing to find the correct faulty part? Everything on the freezer door works, water, LCD panel light, door light switch operates, all buttons on LCD panel, can select crushed ice vs cubed ice, if door is open and I try to get water or ice I get the warning beep, ice maker works and fills ice bucket, fast cool/fast ice works..etc the only thing is I can't get ice through the dispenser. There is no motor sound, nothing but a "click-clock" sound from lower rear when paddle is depressed (sounds like a relay). Any insight? BTW - this began when ice bucket arm was frozen and tried to get ice dispensed. Motor hummed trying to give ice and front panel dimmed...then nothing. Thanks

Shane, We're going to presume the servicer replaced the "gemini" control board in the compressor compartment on the back of the refrigerator WPW10210789 . You still want to check and make sure there aren't any loose connections. You also want to check the wiring harness and connections at the bottom of the freezer door hinge assembly. Once you remove the motor access panel on the freezer door liner, you can check for 120 VAC across the two(2) wires Gray/Orange pin 1 and White/ Red pin 2 on the P13 connector on the "gemini" control board, when the ice dispenser paddle is pressed. If all checks OK, then the IDI motor W10822606 Would be at fault.

I also did resistance test to heater was 72 ohms water valve was 190ohms Moter gave me 74 ohms should be 1400 ohms there abouts from what I read. However I did test Optics on door jamb and it responds with a flashing light when broken the IR sensor is sensing changes in obstruction. also tested white and black wire from ref. harness where ice maker plugs in i am only getting 34 volts from blk and white wires. should it be 120 volts or does it alternate when thermistat in icemaker is close. thanks is this part needed it was recomended by your agent AP4410834 its alot of money i want to make sure. Hello James. You will remove the cover off the back of the unit and access the control board WPW10210789 box and remove the cover off the box. Then you can access and replace the board. Make sure the power is disconnected before replacing the board in the unit.
