For Whirlpool Dishwasher Detergent Dispenser Assembly (Part Number: OEM18070218)

Barrynperkins for Model Number 9744335

WPW10616003 replaces: 8193920, 9742629, 9744335, W10616003 The old assembly has a door for detergent (dispensed during wash), an open container for detergent (for pre-wash), and separate rinse agent dispenser. I understand that the new assembly does not include a rinse aid sensor. However, it appears to have a compartment for detergent (during wash) and a compartment for rinse aid. In the original part, the instructions had detergent in the covered compartment (wash cycle), and if you wanted, put some in for pre-wash. It appears that the new part doesn't allow for detergent in the pre-wash, just detergent dispensed during the wash. Is this correct? If so, does the new assembly wash as well as the old, since there isn't the ability to put detergent into the pre-wash? Thank you. Barry

1 Answer

Barry, Yes the new dispenser will not have the prewash section as it is not needed and the manufacturer has done away with it on the new assembly.

Hello Ken. There is no way of preventing it from hitting the rack. Some have bent the wire on the rack a little to clear it. The numbers on the rinse aid dial are for amount of dispensing. The higher the number, the more rinse aid.

Hello Art, I believe you will need to only use the two brown wires since this new design uses a ratcheting device that will dispense the detergent one time and the rinse aid the next. If this is not correct, please post a new question with the verified model number from the units' I.D. tag since the one you provided does not come up as a valid model number.

John, On the rinse aid dispenser the dial is used in conjunction with the numbers for more or less rinse aid to be dispensed based on the number selected. Your owners manual will tell you more about the feature.

Hello Dex! The manufacturer has eliminated using the electrical sensor. There is now a site window to monitor the level of the rinse aid. You can tape up the extra wiring. Thanks.

Hello Gerald. Open the dispenser door and pour the rinse aid onto the level indicator. It should turn the window blue to let you know when it is full.
