It is very dirty and I am interested in replacing it. What is the part called and where can I find a replacement ring.

Sara December 16, 2012 for Model Number MDB5000AWA My maytag dishwasher has been sitting empty for a year before installing it. It seems to work fine but is leaking around the pump I assume that the gasdket has dryed out and needs replacement does that sound reasonalbe? and if so it is difficutlt to replace do I go at it from under the appliance, through the top where the water comes out to wash or do I tip it over and start from the bottom and is this a nasty job to do? It is a used machine
1 Answer Sara, It may be as simple as tightening the pump assembly clamping ring Y912686 on the bottom of the tub. You do need to be careful of the sharp edges, and points on the components attached to the bottom of the frame and tub. and make sure you remove power to the dishwasher before you start anything. Al July 15, 2011 for Model Number DWU7702AAB Is this the gasket that I see when I look inside the tub at the pump assembly that is mounted in the center or is this the gasket that is in the middle of the assembly, the part that is Under the washer? I was looking in the tub and cleaning it when I noticed that there is a gasket there in the tub around the assembly, it has become sort of sticky. Thanks for the help, Al.
