Homoaner September 28, 2021 for Model Number RKP26m1xSL AppliancePro my "go to" place to keep my home appliance's going. I have a Worm Follower Gear in my Professional Series 600 6qt KitchenAid Mixer, that has failed. I removed it and was wondering if there are TWO different Followers? I ask, due to the One I have has been concaved out where it rides the Worm Gear. (worn or design?) I also noted that in the Great Videos you have to help repair appliances the video shared there has been an upgraded Worm gear and was wondering if this is my case? (An older One with concave Follower and the New One Not?) OR is the gear I have so worn that it is now concave? There is a lot of fine metal in the Transmission Case, missing teeth, leaving me wondering if there are two different Worm Follower Gears for these KitchenAid Mixers? OR as stated just worn? Sorry for the redundancy, just trying to be very clear. Thank you in advance, Homoaner Model number is R-(for refurb?) KP 26 m1x SL P is 2015, 26= day, M1= Jan, X=? and SL= Silver, I put this up in case others were wondering how to read the model number

Kevin February 15, 2020 for Model Number KP26M9XCER I need to replace the worm follower gear for my KitchenAid 6-quart mixer. My exact model number does not show up. The closest has a 5 at the end. Does this make a difference? Is this part the correct one, W11086780? Also, do I need to use a food grade grease when putting the mixer back together?
1 Answer Kevin, the worm gear follower W11086780 will work for the model provided. Changing out the grease would be recommended, especially if the unit has not had the grease W11200218 changed out in a couple of years as changing out the grease can be beneficial in prolonging the life of the gears.
