Causes of a bad Oven Door Hinge include prolonged use, accidental damage, or exposure to high temperatures, which can cause the metal to fatigue and the hinge mechanism to degrade.

Symptoms of a bad Oven Door Hinge include:

  • Difficulty in opening or closing the oven door
  • A door that doesn't sit flush when closed
  • Squeaking or resistance during door movement

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Oven Door Hinge (Part Number: OEM18028446)

Lex for Model Number RMC305PDB1

I just received 2 replacement door hinges (WP4455525) for my whirlpool wall oven. Removing the door and the old hinges was easy. As was installing the replacements.. However, when reinstalling the door, despite the fact that the new hinges slide into their slots properly and latch, the door will not close. It now sits too high and hits the top of the oven when it closes. What am I missing here? I have checked and rechecked the installation and there appears to be no problem.

Lex, aside from the possibility that the hinge WP4455525 is not seating fully into the hinge catch of the liner, there would not be much left that could cause the door to sit high enough to hit the top of the oven.

Hello Claire, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to please post a new question including the verified model number from the units' I.D. tag since it will not come up for us as a valid model number. This will enable us to see the exact door assembly on your unit so we can provide pertinent information for your specific unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Terri, You will open the oven door completely and insert a nail or something in the hole on the door hinge on either side to lock it in place. Close the door slowly til it stops then push up and lift off and the door will come off.

Hello Mike. Use pliers and pull the hinges down and lock the tabs. This can be very difficult due to the spring on the hinge.

Hello Mike. If only one is bad, you can just replace one. If you unsure, it is best to replace both hinges at the same time.
