Kevin for Model Number WRF757SDEM00

Hi, the ice maker has a couple of issues. 1st one is melting ice in the ice bin opening where it is released into the shoot to exit into glass..it also freezes in a clump and nothing gets by. I did change the fridge door gasket that seals door to the ice maker inside fridge today and hoping that will take care of it. the 2nd issue is motor. it starts spinning to dispense but stops after a second and just hums.. pretty sure i need to replace the motor that turns shaft / ice dispenser any help is appreciated Kevin.

1 Answer

Hello Kevin, check that the gasket you replaced is sealing correctly and not rolling over when the door is closed. Yes, I would agree, replace the ice dispenser motor W10822606.

Mina for Model Number WRX988SIBM03

Ice is not being dispensed. When I press glass against paddle, it makes a brief grinding noise but then it goes silent and nothing happens. When I take the ice bin out, the auger rotates briefly though it is a little wobbly. Could this be the auger motor that is the problem. We have already spent over $300 to fix the evaporator issue and we're trying to decide if it's worth it to put any money into this refrigerator. Is it easy to replace the auger motor? Please advise.

1 Answer

Mina, Thanks for the question!!! So with out the ice bin in the auger spins fine other than the wobble. In that case it is likely that the auger motor is bad.

Hello Frank, the switch on the ice maker body is not considered removable. On this model ref the ice maker is controlled directly by the control board. There is a Technical Testing sheet that came with your ref model, it is either under the top right ref door hinge cover or under the front lower grille cover, with it, the ice maker can be run through its self-diagnostic test to find the root cause of the problem.

John Ferguson for Model Number KitchenAid KSRS25FTMS01

My KSRS25FTMS01 will not dispense ice. I looked on line and I believe the auger motor is broken. How do I gain access to the motor? I removed the two1/4 nuts holding the dispenser rod but I don't see any other screws/nuts holding the plastic housing in place-above or below the ice dispensing mechanism. Does the plate that the ice bin rests on have snap connectors? I tried using a flathead screwdriver to pry the plate off but it required a lot of force and I was afraid I would crack it.

1 Answer

John, If you remove the dispenser tray, there will be 2 screws at the back. Remove them and then pull the dispenser cover off. Once off there should be a cardboard cover where the auger motor is located.

Our fridge will not dispense ice. - one day it would not dispense ice. Instead, we pushed the dispense arm, display lit up, but there was the faint smell of burnt wire (electric death), and it would not dispense ice, but would dispense water. - So “EASY”, I replaced the motor, but it would not dispense ice. - I used your video to find how to remove the front cover (mine was different but close). - I swapped the water and ice dispense switches; water still dispenses; Ice switch “clicks”, the display lights up, and there is a “click” from the bottom end of the fridge but the dispense motor will not turn on. - Ideas?

1 Answer

Rob, it would be recommended that the wires at the door hinge are inspected, along with the main control WPW10210789 at the back of the unit, for any indications of any damage. Based on the information provided, it sounds like either the main control has failed or there is a wiring issue in the door LW10143631 (door has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available).

Andrew for Model Number KSRV22FVSS00

My ice dispenser won't turn on the motor. I can hear the clicking in the switch and the light on the front panel comes on so the lever is working. Since the schematic shows only one switch for this model to run both the ice and water, I imagine the switch is working fine since the water dispenser still works. When I took off the plastic plate under the motor I found some ice on the inside of the plate so I am guessing that some water made it down the auger shaft and got into the motor. First, is there anything else that I should be checking? Second, if you agree that the motor is the problem, is there any chance of salvaging it or do I need to replace it? Finally, can you post a video of how to replace the motor?

1 Answer

Andrew, the wire connection going into the auger motor W10822606 would need to be inspected for corrosion. If there is corrosion, the door L2327016S would need to be replaced. If not, only the motor would need to be replaced. Unfortunately, we do not have a repair video for this part at this time.

Brian, it would be recommended that the wires at the door hinge are inspected to identify if one has broken. If it has and it is on the door side of the plastic connector, the door assembly L2327199T would need to be replaced if the wire can not be repaired. If there is not a break, the voltage to the auger motor W10822606 would need to be tested at the main control at the connection P2 from pin 1 to pin 2 while the dispenser paddle is pressed in for 120VDC. If the voltage is present, the motor has failed. If the voltage is not present, the main control WPW10259855 has failed.
