Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dryer Drive Motor (Part Number: OEM18019167)

Ken, If the pulley is screwed on and has come loose you could try to tighten it and maybe put a little blue Loctite on the threads to keep it tight. If that does not work then the motor would need to be replaced.

Kosta, To get this blower wheel off, keep in mind it is a reverse thread so turn it the opposite direction. Put a socket on the wheel and a pair of vise grips on the motor shaft to hold it in place. You should then be able to turn the blower wheel off.

Luke, if the pulley is freely spinning on the motor shaft and not locking in place then you would need to replace the motor [WP2200376] since the pulley would not thread correctly and seat if a thread tap is used. The only reason the pulley would spin freely is if the threads are missing on the pulley or shaft.

Robert, the manufacturer has discontinued the drive pulley as an individual part. The manufacturer no longer sells the part, we can no longer get it from any of our suppliers. There is no substitute for the part available to us and we don't know of any other source for the part. You may want to try contacting local parts dealers, one of them might still have it in stock. Enter your part number in a search engine, a smaller company might have it. Try eBay, Amazon or similar sites, search by using the manufacturers part number. Try a used appliance store, sometimes they have the same model machine or a usable part for your machine.

Hello Dan, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to verify your model number on the units' I.D. tag. This will enable us to look up the correct part number for the motor you are needing since the model number provided is not coming up as valid. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Benjamin, The only way to get the pulley for the unit is to get the motor as the manufacturer has not made the pulley available as a separate part.

Stuart for Model Number MDE508DAYK

Hello We have had the Maytag MDE508DAYK dryer for about 10 years. About 2 years ago I replaced the drive belt and idler pulley as the pulley seized and destroyed the belt. Now after the dryer runs for a bit it starts to make a loud buzzing or humming noise. The sound comes and goes, it is not continuous. It lasts for a few minutes and then goes away and then comes back a few minutes later. I disassembled the dryer and checked the rear rollers and the idler roller and all run smooth. I also cleaned out all of the lint in the machine and removed the motor and used a compressor to blow all of the lint out of the motor. The problem persists. Motor going bad? Or something else? Thanks

Stuart, First check the blower wheel 56000 and make sure none of the vanes or the front frame are cracked or broken, make sure there aren't any small articles stuck or wrapped around the wheel or motor shaft, If all's OK then replace the motor, sounds like the motor shaft bearings are worn and starting to make noise.
