Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dryer Timer (Part Number: OEM18027084)

Hello Ernest, With the door open the unit should shut off. If the unit continues to run then you have a bad door switch. Also you will want to check your neutral wire from the door switch to the motor and back to timer for short to ground. This would keep the timer motor operating. Also check for shorted centrifugal switch. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Dad, You'll need a multi meter to test the start switch for a momentary "closed" circuit, when the button is pressed WP3395382. You'll need to check the door switch W10820036 for a "closed" circuit, when the switch plunger is pressed down/in (D to D1). and the thermal fuse WP3390719 on the blower housing has to have a "closed" circuit to supply power to the motor so it will start and run.

Hi Termite. Is the timer making a rattling or a chatter sound? They will do this for a period of time before the timer fails. This will be part # WP3976576. If the door is opening slightly, the door switch is part # WP3406107. Thank youIt sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. Hope this helps. .
