The Igniter is an OEM part for GE dryers. It is designed to ignite the gas burner to produce heat, which is essential for drying clothes. The igniter ensures that the gas is lit efficiently and safely, enabling the dryer to reach and maintain the proper temperature for effective drying.
You should replace the igniter if it becomes faulty. Causes of a bad igniter can include electrical failures, cracks or breaks in the igniter material, or wear and tear from regular use. These issues can prevent the igniter from generating the necessary heat to ignite the gas.

Changed ignitor. Ordered new ignitor by just putting dryer model number in the search box. When I opened the dryer up and took the old one out I was originally upset. The meter read 73 ohms. I was expecting OL (open line). The new one read 273 ohms so I put it in. Dryer works now. The install video’s are old. It was much easier than the video’s showed. Dryer drum belt wraps around drum and motor pulley to spin the drum. Replace if dryer won't start, makes squealing noise, or drum doesn't turn. Verify fit.
Replaced rear bearing, upper and lower felts, drive belt. Have repaired dryer before for same problem years ago, knew what to do, on line diagrams helped to move memory. Removed lid. Removed switch panel. Suspected open circuit in thermal fuse. Tested it with a multimeter first to confirm it had an open circuit. This part is obsolete. Contacted manufacturer and found part supercedes to a different part number Ordered part. (This website is very efficient.
