Fix a dishwasher that won't start, has no panel lights, or beeps randomly. This main control board regulates all cycles. Moderate DIY repair.
Indicator light would blink three times, make a sound, but the dishwasher would not run. After making sure there were no obstructions, no problems with seals, filters, and latch clean, I cut the power off and back on. The Dishwasher worked for a few more times. After that, cutting the power off and on no longer worked. I figured out what buttons to press and hold to find the error code (start/stop and cycle select), saw code 815, and then did a "hard reset" by pressing and holding other... Read more
Dishwasher won't start or run? A faulty door latch prevents cycles from beginning. This latch assembly secures the door and activates switches. 5-10 min fix.
After I double checked that the unit did have power to it, I concluded it was probably a switch or the User Interface Board. I found the parts on the AppliancePartsPros for the best price and delivery. After the parts were delivered two days later, it took me a couple hours to disassemble and re-assemble the door for the dishwasher and luckily everything seems to be working fine three days and three loads later. The only issue I had was with the User Interface board..... this is a generic... Read more
Lower dishrack assembly for dishwashers. Holds dishes, pots, and pans during wash cycles. Replace if rusted, cracked, warped, or damaged. Includes wheels.
We ordered a replacement Lower Dishrack KIt which arrived in a very timely manner. I was surprised to see the order included a utensil rack as ours was fine and we had not ordered one. After installing the dishrack, we discovered the old rack was obsolete. It was so nice to realize GE was on top of things in sending the replacement utensil rack instead of me having to order one after the fact. Read more
Seals dishwasher door perimeter to prevent water leaks during operation. Replace if you notice leaking from door sides or bottom. Easy 5-minute install.
I ordered door seal and bottom strip seal: GASKET TUB PLASTIC Number: WD08X22094 GASKET BEACH PLASTIC: WD08X21894 I had done this once previously and removed the door. That was not too bad but trying to put the door back on the hinges by myself was a bit of work. This time I: 1) removed the 2 screws at the bottom of the door. 2) opened the door all the way 3) slowly pulled the door back on the hinges till I could pull out the bottom gasket 4) slid the new gasket back in place 5) pushed the... Dishes not drying or staying wet after cycle? This heating element heats water during wash and dries dishes after rinse. DIY-friendly replacement part.
I followed the directions on several websites for repairs. The obvious place to start is the heating coil and thermostat. I checked the continuity of the coil and it was good with a reading of almost zero resistance. Next I read that there is no thermostat controls on my GE dishwasher so I followed another webpage that said the Sensor Turbidity Assembly acts like a thermostat so I replaced that. Wasted effort as that switch sensor was OK. Normally it has a light on when it is working, a... Read more

The Flood Switch Assembly is an OEM part for GE dishwashers that is responsible for detecting water levels in the dishwasher's base, preventing potential flooding by shutting off the water intake if an overflow is detected. This helps in avoiding water damage to your home and ensuring the dishwasher operates normally.
Symptoms of a bad Flood Switch Assembly include:
Causes of a bad flood switch assembly can vary from debris accumulation affecting the float's movement to electrical issues within the switch mechanism. Over time, wear and tear on the float or switch can lead to failures.
This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.
Removed the lower rack, removed the lower wash arm, removed the lower coarse filter, removed fine filter ( still no tools require to this point). Removed two 1/4" head screws with nut driver to then remove float switch, unplugged float switch, plugged in new switch, reinstalled filter, etc. This is a 5 minut job! Read more
Seals the dishwasher tub opening to prevent water leaks during wash cycles. Replace if worn, flattened, or causing leaks. Verify fit with your model.
Upon taking the door apart it looked like the leak was coming from the vent so I replaced the vent cap, vent seal and the transition piece. I did not have to change the seals. It took me a while to figure out how to get the door apart, but once I did, it was fairly straightforward. Read more

Replacement silverware basket for dishwashers. Holds utensils and flatware securely during wash cycles. Needed when original basket is cracked or broken.
Our GE was installed about 8 years ago and was AWESOME for much of its early life. However, progressively its cleaning ability diminished. By replacing all the spray arms (clogged with debris), filters, drain hose, and sump...this dishwasher cleans like it did when it was new! Cost was around $100 (also replaced a wheel and the silverware basket) and labor was relatively simple. And to think...my mother-in-law said, "Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a new one?!?". Dishwasher won't drain or water stays in the tub? A failed drain pump is often the cause. This repair involves removing the dishwasher for access.
Removed two securing screws from side of dishwasher. Pulled out of cabinet careful to not over extend supply/drain/electric connections. Layed unit on side, removed two clamps from each end of drain pump as well as one electrical connection, removed bad pump, replaced connections and clamps, electrical connection. Ran a cycle while out of cabinet to ensure no leaks, replaced unit and screwed back into cabinet. Whole thing took 20 minutes. Read more
Dishwasher not filling with water or filling too slowly? The water inlet valve controls water flow into the tub. DIY-friendly repair with video guide.
I figured it was the valve, but searching on the Appliance Parts site, somebody said they fixed it by replacing the switch flood assembly. So I order both parts. The Switch Flood Assembly was easiest to replace, so I decided to try that first. When I pulled out the old assembly, I noticed it did not 'rattle', as the new one did. So, there is apparently a float ball that had gotten stuck. I put the new one in and poof.. it worked. The only update to the instructions is a reminder that the... Read more
Fix a dishwasher that won't clean dishes or has weak spray pressure. This circulation pump distributes water to spray arms. Moderate difficulty repair.
We pulled the dishwasher out, took it to the garage and set it up on sawhorses and planks so we could access the bottom. We plugged it in and filled it with water and ran a quick cycle. As soon as the circulation pump kicked on water came spraying out from the rubber boot in the diverter assembly. It appears that there was a factory defect in the hose. Unfortunately, the water got into the pump motor over a few loads and was eroding the brushes on the motor. We decided to replace it as well.... Read more
