David F El Paso , TX January 17, 2015 Appliance: Model MAYTAG, OLDER MODEL Girlfriend's dryer was making the dreaded "thumping" sound Ordered the parts on Sunday and they arrived on Tuesday with standard shipping. Went over today (Sunday), took the dryer apart and installed the new support wheels with new axles, washers and but. Reassembled the dryer, plugged it in and it sounded absolutely quiet. Whole job took about two hours, had to clean the interior while in there, and the girlfriend is very happy. Wonderful experience all the way around. Wayne V Franklin , WI February 09, 2015 Rear support rollers were shot drum was squeeking badly and eventually started knocking Looked up possible parts via a layout on the web site and ordered the parts I needed, plus a few extras. Figured I'm gonna open this thing once and be done with it. Once I got access to these rollers, via removing the drum from the front, it was an easy fix. The studs that support the rollers were locked so tightly they would not come out. Luckily these were still good and I just elected not to replace them. Dryer works like new! Joe M Arnold , MO December 28, 2020 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer MDG5500AWW Very loud squeaky dryer. The roller nearest the heater housing was the culprit due to drying of the shaft lubricant after constant exposure to heat from the heater housing over the years. Because of the age of the dryer I replaced both tub support rollers, shafts, and fiber washers. I also replaced the belt and tensioner roller. The repair was pretty straight forward and aided by videos, however it did require a lot of tear down (not too difficult) including the removal of the drum. Parts were fairly easy to access for replacement. At the end there were no missing or left over parts and the dryer runs fine and doesn't make a peep! Read More...
