W J Panama City Beach , FL February 26, 2023 Appliance: Maytag Washer MVWC565FW1 Agitator drive failed I had to cut the old agitator out with an oscillating saw in order to access the agitator drive. This is the second Maytag (MVWC 565) I have had to do this to. I first tried removing it by sliding straps under the agitator then then using a jack to pull it loose which did not work either time. One suggestion I have would be to remove debris from tub as you cut in order to prevent it from dropping from the inner tub into the outer tub. I ran the washer to see what was wrong with it . 2 Unplugged the washer from 120 Volt Plug. 3 Removed softer dispenser by pulling up 4. Removed the bolt holding the agitator. 5 . Pulled out agitator. 6 Removed all screens Holding drive hub and clip. 7 . Replaced and put everything back .8 Ran a test run. 9 . Also replaced the shift actuator. Read More... George H Graeagle , CA November 19, 2016 Appliance: Model WTW8240YMO Bad drive shaft bearings When it was determined (thanks to the pros at Appliance Parts Pros.com) that the problem was indeed bad drive shaft bearings, I then viewed the video available on the their website and ordered the necessary parts. The repair went somewhat according to plan but not without a few hick ups, for example, when the old drive shaft would not release from the bearings by tapping on them with a hammer I had to improvise by creating a drive shaft puller which worked just fine, otherwise the project went very well.
