Allan H Baroda , MI March 06, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer MDG6000BWW Lack of heat and long drying times Our Maytag gas clothes dryer was not drying like it should/used to and was making a lot of noise. After researching online I figured the vent was partially blocked and/or the blower wheel was bad. When I took it apart, the vent had very little lint in the lower elbow exiting the back of the dryer but the blower wheel was loose on the shaft and was missing the clamp. I cleaned out the vent and put a hose clamp on the blower wheel to tighten it to the shaft and tried it again. The noise was gone, but it still didn't dry. I purchased and installed a gas valve coil kit and a cycling thermostat and the dryer is working like new again!!! I am so glad that I found this website with great info and a great selection of products at great prices. Jerry W Central , SC May 06, 2017 Blower wheel worn and loose Replaced with a new wheel that fit tightly on motor shaft. I bought the clamp and retainer clips but ended up putting the old ones back on because they shown no signs of wear. Total time to fix including vacuum and cleaning about 30 Minutes. Teresa A Purcellville , VA March 11, 2016 Broken blower wheel (toy dropped inside and crushed the blades) After watching a few videos, I opened the front of the dryer, removed the old pieces and put in the new ones. This model of dryer was pretty easy to work with. One thing that I didn't expect to be so difficult was the removal of the old blower wheel. The new one slid right on, but the old one didn't want to budge without a lot of force. If you can go ahead and get the special snap ring pliers, it would definitely make it easier to get the snap ring off and on, but I did the repair with a set of tweezers. I recommend wearing work gloves--I got a few nicks on my hands while doing the repair. Mary S Porter , TX February 15, 2019 Appliance: Magic Chef Electric Dryer YE224LVC Noisy bumping sound. Blower wheel and clamp replacement. Initially, we replaced both the belt and drum roller wheels but that did not stop the noise. By reviewing videos on YouTube and AppliancePartsPros, we suspected that the blower wheel could be problematic, even though with front panel of dryer off, we did not see any visual clues to support that theory. Purchased the replacement clamp as well, just for good measure (and it was inexpensive). Note: we did call AppliancePartsPros with our model AND serial numbers before placing order, because we noticed there were 2 diameters available for the shaft and we did not want to risk purchasing the wrong part. Toughest parts to the job are (a) reseating the drum on the drum rollers, and (b) maneuvering the belt in place around the pulley, as you have to do this by touch, since you cannot see it. We are delighted with the results. Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Nut Drivers, Pliers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
