Christian C Johnson City , TN June 20, 2014 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator ED5HHAXVQ00 Side by side whirlpool freezer not defrosting fridge stopped getting cold Started with most common fixes for this problem and replaced the Bi-metal Defrost Thermostat. That wasn't it. Then replaced the Condenser Fan and still not working properly. Finally replaced the circuit board and 2 weeks out, unit is working properly. Board was easy to replace, as were the other parts. As a DIY'r the challenge is diagnosing without proper testing equipment and the process of elimination can get expensive. Removing the plastic protector on the tubing was easy. Getting it on the new one required some WD40. The refrigerator now seems to be working but it is off more than I realized in the past. Foods and ice are frozen so it is working. I did not install the defrost unit as I think the cold control was the issue. Both were fine. I watched a repair video for the defrost timer on a similar model. I replaced the control within 15 minutes.
