Jared B Norfolk , VA October 04, 2014 Appliance: Jenn-Air Over The Range Microwave JMV8208AAS My jenn air microwave developed a loud hum and no longer heated anything I am not an appliance repair man. I am a general surgeon. I went online and researched the problem. The consensus was that my magnetron and diode were the most likely culprits. To replace my microwave with a comparable model would have cost at least $800. The diode and magnetron cost around $170. I watched a few videos on YouTube demonstrating how to do the repair safely and I felt like I could do it. I ordered the parts on a Monday evening and had them Wednesday. The only difficult part of the repair was getting the heavy appliance down from over the range and gaining access to the cavity that contains the parts. The parts were somewhat difficult to remove due to the tight spaces that I had to work in to access the screws holding it in place. I was able to get it done though and I had a working microwave in under two hours from the start of the job. Robert P Metairie , LA November 23, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Microwave MMV5156AAS Microwave did not produce heat everything else was fine (lights timer fan etc) This was an expensive Maytag over the stove type unit. Removal was easy, just two screws allow it to tip forward and then lift off the wall bracket. 14 screws around the outer shell and it lifts off to expose everything. Basic meter checks show the capacitor, diode, transformer, fuses all good. The ohm meter checks on the magnetron did not clearly show it to be bad, but with the only problem of not making things hot, it was the most likely problem. Ordered the magnetron and diode, very simple to replace. This only takes 2 screws and plug in connectors. There is a big capacitor, so short it out first to protect from shocks. Put it all back together and for about 20% of the price of a new microwave i had it fixed. Exact replacement parts and an easy to use website makes this place my number one appliance parts choice. Michelle K York , PA June 13, 2015 Microwave not heating We installed the new magnetron and diode and it is back up and running! Our microwave and oven are a single wall unit which made the repair a little trickier. We didn't take the whole unit out of its spot. I braced myself in front of it and we tilted it out while my husband did the repair. All in all, it was pretty easy!
