Jason S Cupertino , CA November 18, 2014 Appliance: Jenn-Air Electric Cooktop JEC8430ADB One surface element and part of the top glass are broken First, I just unscrewed all nuts that are holding the frame and all surface elements. Once all parts, surface elements, control switches, are loose from the original glass, I just moved all parts to the new glass. Due to the weight of the glass, all actions have to be done carefully as I broken one corner of the glass couple of years ago when I replaced one of the control switch. Edwin N Cumming , GA January 14, 2019 Appliance: Maytag 30" Gas Built-In Downdraft Cooktop JGD8430ADB14 Stove ignition would not stop sparking even with all knobs in "off" position I disconnected the downdraft exhaust pipe and unplugged the stove. I lifted up the stove and rested, supported it over the opening with a few pieces of scrap lumber. Opening the stove, I found all 4 switches dirty. After disconnecting one-at-a-time, I found the faulty switch. Shopping for a replacement, I noticed a parts diagram showing grommets around the knobs. My stove was missing all the grommets, allowing debris to gunk up the switches. Since switches are expensive, I cleaned mine in a bath of rubbing alcohol, let them dry out, and then sprayed them liberally with DeOxit (an electronics cleaner). That fixed the immediate problem. I ordered the grommets and reassembled the stove. The grommets arrived in a few days, and installation took under 5 minutes.J Read More...
