The only trick is that you must also remove the top and bottom trim parts above and below the handle (respectively) to be able to replace the handle, as those pieces cover the screws that attach the handle to the door panel. And really, removing those two pieces are the hardest part. The top trim piece slides up, whereas the bottom piece slides down. In my case, I had a little bit of trouble sliding the top piece up. I ended up having to use a wedge and a mallet to tap the bottom of the piece to get it to move. From there it was completely easy. Just remove the old handle by unscrewing the for screws that attach it, and the screw on the new handle. Then, slide the two other trim pieces back on. Voila! I was able to complete my repair in about 5 minutes. One thing I will mention is that the four screws require a square (four-sided) bit, which not all bit sets will have. Placed the new handle in place and reattached with the four screws. Placed the molding back on and done. Total work time less than 5 mins. Read More...
