Whirlpool WP74010283 Oven Door Hinge OEM Part

Removed oven door, took door apart replaced oven hinges. Pulled oven out of recess to access hinge receptacle. Replaced hinge receptacle.

Bought and installed new hinges. Repair took about an hour but I also cleaned all the glass inside and out on both oven doors. I had ordered extra screws as I read the old ones that hold the hinges were hard to get in as they were self taping but the screw labeled 5 next to the hinge were not the right ones. All old screws worked fine. You just need to put a little power to them to get them started. Easy repair.

It was easy to find info on the problem, just did a quick search. The original hinges get weak and won't close the door. It seems this is a common problem with this make and model. I found the Appliancepartspros site through my search. I used the 1-800 number as I needed more info than was available on the order page. The parts arrived within a few days. It was easy to take the door off the oven, another search was required for that one. Once the door is off, it's a simple job to remove the hinges. It's rather easy. The new ones are part of a kit that overcomes the weak original hinges. Now the door closed fully, and the oven is much more efficient. The wife is happier too!

Replaced the hinges. Project would have been easy but no replacement self tapping mounting screws were furnished with the new hinge assemblies forcing me to use the old ones. The old screws must have been a little dull because I had use vice grips on the screw heads to get them in. If the phillips screw heads just were not capable of the required torque.

After doing some on-line research, I found it was not complicated to replace the hinge mechanism. I decided to replace both hinges rather than just replacing the one side that had failed.
