John J Collingswood , NJ July 16, 2019 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator WRF989SDAM00 Water leaking inside the refrigerator. Shut off the water supply and power to the unit. I removed perishables to give myself room to work. I removed 2, 1/4" screws by the water filter and carefully pried off the the top right cover near the water filter using a putty knife to expose the wiring and water lines. I used a 1/2 wrench to depress the water line value to remove the supply lines (I used blue tape to remember/code how to put them back on) from the reservoir and the water filter housing. I cut the nylon ties securing the reservoir to the cover to remove the reservoir. It is a bit bulky because it is full of water. Be patient and careful and give yourself and 1 hour plus in time. Was very pleased to get the parts the next day due to paying the 9.95 shipping . I have ordered from appliance pros before and their service is exceptional. Was able to replace the two parts with an instruction video on YouTube in about an hour and a half. All is well now leak has been fixed. Read More...
