Wesley Y Meridian , ID September 02, 2014 Continued sparking of electronic spark on a gas cook top After reading all I could about trouble shooting this type of problem, I ordered a new spark module. After removing the stove parts to gain access to the old module, I installed the new one. It my research, I was under the impression that all the spark units for the burners were connected the same since they all sparked at the same time. To make a long story short, be sure that the ignition (spark wire) wires match the correct burner. This is accomplished by making sure the number for the lead matches the same number for that individual spark wire. The spark module has each connection numbered 1 through 4. Each numbered connection needs to match the other. Otherwise, all the burners will keep sparking. Had I not mixed up the spark wires, this project would have only taken 15 minutes after I figured out how to gain access to the spark module. Gregory B Magnolia , TX December 08, 2015 Appliance: Jenn-Air Surface Base Unit- Ddraft Gas CVG2420W The electronic ignitor and light ring did not work on one burner The stove is a CVG2420 Jenn Air 34" white stove top that is no longer made. I do not want to have to rebuild the island for a different stove, so I need to keep the old stove running. The trick to get into the control panel is that the top of the panel is attached to the gas piping frame by two Torx T-15 screws, one inside each of the center two light rings. Once inside the panel, it was very easy to remove the failed switch. The replacement switch was slightly larger than the original and I had to grind off about 1/8" of one spade contact so that the wiring would not forcibly contact the inside of the control panel when reassembled. It fires up and lights up the light ring now, just like it used to. Mama is happy and I am a hero!! The best thing for me is that I did not have to get the local appliance knuckleheads involved. Once again, the mechanical engineering degree paid off.
