This is a cooktop. It is installed on top of a stove and is used to heat dishes while cooking. It is made for use on electric ranges and is a smooth-surfaced alternative to typical coils. Since the cooktop is made of glass, it can become damaged, cracked, or broken, which will prevent cooking on the range. If this happens, the cooktop will need to be replaced.Work gloves, pliers, and a screwdriver are needed to replace the range cooktop. Unplug the stove from the wall and open the oven door. Remove the screws that hold the cooktop and lift it up and away from the frame. Remove the burners and cooktop and set them to the side. Clean out the inside of the cooktop before sliding the new cooktop onto the range. Reattach the burners and screw in the cooktop. Plug in the range and test it before using. This part is sold as an individual product. It is a genuine OEM replacement component that is sourced directly from the manufacturer. The cooktop is designed for use with ranges, ovens, and stoves by Whirlpool.
