John W Seattle , WA April 30, 2016 Appliance: Model 28-YEAR OLD MAGIC CHEF 38FN-3EX-ON Oven thermostat quit and only oven temperature was high! Ordered a new oven thermostat. Web site indicated that the number of the new part would work for our old oven. Took off back of stove and front panel to remove old thermostat. Carefully took off one wire at a time from the old thermostat and put them on the corresponding terminal of the new thermostat. Put the panels all back together, plugged the stove back into its outlet and turned on the oven. It didn't work!!! Read the one page CAREFULLY that came with new thermostat to see if it really was a part that would fit my old stove. Yes! BUT also that two of the terminals on the new thermostat were reversed. Took the back off the stove and switched the terminals as indicated. Voila, oven worked perfectly. The project took longer because I hadn't read the fine print first.
