Whirlpool WP819470 Refrigerator Temperature Control Thermostat OEM Part

I determined it was the thermostat, found the model number and Appliance Pros had one they said would work. So, I ordered one and got it in 2 days. Opened the package, read the instructions and 10 minutes later my new food was going to be cool and my water would be ice. All it took was remove housing, unplug old part, plug in new part and replace housing.

My 2 sons assessed it to determine what the problem was: needs freon? (R-12) or did the thermostat die??? 1 got on line to see if parts were available and the other son set up a manual switch to keep things cool. then when the new thermostat came, which was overnight (wow!!) he looked at the instructions and the thermostat and then removed the manual switch and installed the new one, the whole thing done in 15-20 min.Thank you so much. We bought this appliance May 24, 1984. I've been told that appliances are not built this good anymore. That's a big shame!!!!

I ordered A new stat from Appliance Parts Pros. the part was delivered the next day at a lower price than a local nationally known appliance parts store. I am a retired Refrigeration service tech and this was a simple repair job, that took only a few hands tool. The part was a name brand factory part, nothing cheep about it. I replaced the defrost timer, problem still occurred. Then replaced the cold control (thermostat) on Whirlpool Model ET14JK2L Top Freezer Refrigerator. The cold control had a different design configuration than OEM model. Some rework of the housing area was needed. APP staff was helpful in answering my questions - I love the APP technical resource program staff as they are very accessible and knowlegable.
