James O Holden , MA September 05, 2015 Appliance: Model KITCHENAID KSV22 Ice maker was over flowing water into freezer and ice bucket Originally thought the ice maker went bad, but I replaced that about a month ago. Things worked fine for a few weeks and then the inside front of the freezer was frozen over with ice running down the inside door. Noted that the water fill reservoir for the ice maker was frozen solid, so that and some advice on probable causes suggested that the fill valve was leaking by. PART # W10408180 Kenmore ice make stopped working initially water oveflowed and then failed to refill Wasted time removing ice maker. On-line videos showed how to removr it but no adequate trouble shooting explanation either in Owners manual or on-lineto determine cause. Checked resistance of Water vakve solenoids. Water Filter measured approx 250 ohms. Ice maker 1.8 ohms. Big difference and effectively a short at 120V. Surprised nothing else got damaged. Ordered new part from Appliance Parts as their on-line picture looked identical to mine whereas other sites, includiing Sears, showed a 3 solenoid version with same part numbers. I eleceted to pay standard shipping rate and was pleased to receive unit via FedEx within 2 days i.e several days ahead of schedule. New unit physically identical to original and measured 258 and 194 ohms respectivley. Easy installation and unit now working fine after filling the ice cube tray with water from a tukey baster the first time to initiate freeze, drop, refill cycle.. Very satisfied. I ordered the valve inlet and Ice Mould from Appliance Pros and upon their arrival I watched the video on APP.com and installed the parts in about the time it took to view the video. Freezer is ice free and ice bin is full of perfect cubes. I've ordered parts from Appliance parts pro for my Maytag Washer after a repair man said he couldn't fix it for less than $300. I got the latch control, watched the video and installed in 15 minutes and all for far less than $100. Love this company!
