When I removed the cabinet, all of the springs appeared in tact, I had already replaced the counter balance spring so I knew that was not the issue. None of the suspension springs or brackets were broken but they did look worn/rusty so I replaced all of the brackets (2 in front and 1 large in back), all of the suspension spring retainers, and all of the suspension springs and it fixed the issue! I used Fixya as an initial source describing my problem. I got two responses which were very helpful. One that the "coils" were probably the problem. Two, that the problem could be the thermostat or a thermistor in the dryer. First I checked the circuit breakers and power to the outlet, then next wanted to check the lid switch, but it wasn't where I had found it on older models. I replaced the belt, belt tension pulley, both dryer drum roller axles and both drum support rollers. Although I bought 2 tumbler bearing kits, because those still look good I am saving them for when they go bad. The videos were fantastic! I also took pictures as I went of wiring so there would be no question where things went when reassembling. A bit of research on the internet indicated the most likely problem was with the defrost system. I found the service manual for the refrigerator and was able to determine that the defrost heater and thermostat passed the self test. The refrigerator would perform a forced defrost which resulted in a cold refrigerator. Looked up parts based on fridge model number, watched videos, and replaced parts using just a few tools... easy. Parts came quick, well packaged. After 16 years, plastic parts deteriorate and break.
