I was very fortunate to have been able to eventually remove it with the use of a lot of BP penetrating oil and heat. Removed front and top panels of washer, removed old switch assembly. Then mounted and hooked up new switch assembly, put panels back on, turned on power and unit now works fine. Cleaned exhaust duct, but only from the dryer/laundry room side. Replaced thermal fuse. Unit worked for about two loads and thermal fuse blew again. Seals the top of the outer tub to prevent leaks and splashing. Replace if cracked, worn through, or gasket is compressed causing water to escape onto the floor.

I've read several reports about how "easy and quick" it was to replace the motor. All I can say is, "nonsense". It wasn't as easy as others reported, but for someone with decent tool skills, it was a very doable home repair - just be prepared to spend some time on it. Here's the story. All my appliances except the dryer broke. Yeah. talk about bad luck. First I tried to fix the refrigerator. Replaced both motherboard and inverter board. This was some repair! My SG1000 stackable is over 30 years old and was purchased second hand.
