Scraper blade on my craftsman snow blower was worn to the point the bolts were gone and the blade was catching the augers Martin D. • Monroe , MI • February 11, 2022
Removed old scraper blade. Filed away bent edges where casing was worn. Installed new scraper blade and bolts. added a backing plate to body where erosion occurred. East repair. Best part was that big snowstorm was forecast for Wednesday night. 12-18 inches expected. Parts arrived on Wednesday morning, right at time predicted. I was up and running before the snow hit (actually only got 6 inches. So much for the Storm of the Century)

This is a flanged lock nut. It’s designed to apply tension, typically on a joint that needs to have a certain amount of flex. As such, it’s mostly used on snowblower chutes and lawnmower handles. They can remain in place, but with a forgiving connection that can take a beating. The nut size is 3/8, with a thread size of 16. A lock nut will generally last for many years. However, the silicone ring inside will wear down if it’s frequently tightened and loosened. It needs to be replaced when it will no longer reliably remain in place. Generally, this begins as a symptom of slight slippage and worsens as time goes on. Thankfully, whether it’s being used on a snowblower or a lawnmower, this nut is generally straightforward to access. Simply unscrew the old nut, then screw the new nut on until it’s nice and tight. Our flanged lock nuts are genuine OEM MTD nuts, and they are sold individually.

A flange lock nut, also known as a flange lock or a lock nut, is created to be used in various types of lawn and garden equipment. This flange lock nut holds other parts in place and, when properly threaded, will resist loosening. Over time, a flange lock nut may begin to weaken and may become loose or break. If it appears to be broken or weak, a replacement is required. Flange locks can be adjusted and uninstalled after use. When replacement is required, you may need a socket set, screwdriver, hacksaw, and butane torch. The socket wrench will loosen the bolt it is connected to, while the torch is used to heat the lock nut. A socket wrench may remove the nut, but sometimes cutting it with a hacksaw is required. This flange lock nut is a genuine OEM component directly from the manufacturer and comes in an individual unit. It is made of metal, a gold color, and can be found in various areas of lawn equipment. It works with lawnmowers, trimmers, snowblowers, cultivators, tillers, and leaf blowers by Poulan, MTD, Toro, Cub Cadet, Murray, Troy-Bilt, Bolens, Yard Machines, Craftsman, and Yard-Man.

The front-drive wheels are attached to the axle with a ring gear and a left-hand smaller gear inside. The wheels are responsible for keeping the mower deck from touching the ground and keeping the blade at a good height for safe operation. They also provide easy maneuvering of the lawnmower. The black and white finish offers a clean, classic look.
Although wheels don’t typically wear down enough to need to be replaced, they can become damaged over time. If the wheels are broken or missing, this replacement from the manufacturer can get a lawn mower rolling again in no time at all. Although it’s not required, it is suggested to replace wheels in pairs to ensure even wear over the lifespan of the mower.
The front-drive wheel is compatible with several MTD and Troy-Bilt lawnmowers that require front drive wheels. This wheel is typically for self-propelled models. This item is sold as a single unit and additional wheels will have tobe purchased separately. These sturdy plastic wheels are direct from the manufacturer and made to their exact standards to guarantee proper performance and fit with every compatible model.
