This is a genuine replacement bolt that is designed specifically for use on select lawn tractors. This tractor bolt is a specialty piece of hardware designed for use on the steering segment gear. This screw holds the gear in place and is exposed to constant vibrations and repetitive motion as a result. Over time, that can result in damage, wear, or even total breakage of the bolt and require a replacement. If the bolt isn't functional or is missing, the steering segment gear will not be secured and that can lead to further damage if left unattended. Using a genuine replacement part like this will guarantee an exact fit for compatible models. This genuine OEM gear bolt is manufactured by MTD. It is compatible with lawn and garden equipment from RYOBI, HUSKEE, Troy-Bilt, Bolens, Yard Machines, Yard Man, and Cub Cadet, along with select models from MTD. The bolt works for more than 100 compatible models. It is made of durable metal and sold as an individual unit. A wrench or socket will be required to replace this part. Always wear gloves when performing repairs on lawn and garden equipment and allow the engine to cool before doing any work.
This is a hex screw used on a variety of types of lawn and garden equipment. On large machinery, it is often used to mount the gas tank. On smaller items, it tends to be used to clamp the housing together. It can secure items like plastic, metal, brick, and wood together. It measures 5/16-18 x .75 inches and is made of durable metal. In some cases, the screw can become damaged, broken, or stripped, which means it needs to be replaced.A visual inspection will indicate whether the screw is damaged. If it needs to be replaced, a hex wrench can be used to remove it from the equipment. Afterward, the replacement hex screw can be installed with the wrench before being tightened to ensure materials hold together well. This hex screw is a genuine OEM part that is sold individually. It is sourced directly from the manufacturer. The hex screw is compatible with lawnmowers, wood chippers, log splitters, snowblowers, chainsaws, edgers, tillers, leaf blowers, and string trimmers by Craftsman, Cub Cadet, Ryobi, Troy-Bilt, Husky, Broan, Yard Machines, MTD, Huskee, Montgomery Wards, Bolens, Turf King, Yard-Man, and MasterCut.
This hex bolt is a necessary component used in a variety of small to medium sized gasoline powered engines used primarily in yard work, gardening, and landscaping. The primary use of this hex bolt is to secure the idler pulley assembly to the body of the machine. The idler pulley functions to engage the turning mechanism of the yard tool when engaged. The power yard tools that require an idler pulley which would use this screw are tillers, riding mowers, yard tractors, tillers, snow blowers and chippers. Engaging the rotating part of the yard tool places a great deal of resistance on the idler pulley, which may eventually result in it needing to be replaced. When replacing the idler pulley assembly, it's important to remember that the attaching hardware, such as the hex bolt, has also experienced a great deal of wear and should be replaced as well. This hex bolt attaches the idler pulley assembly directly to the machine housing and can be removed with a 9/16 wrench. Make sure when replacing the bolt to use a genuine OEM manufactured part that is identical to the manufacturer's original piece. This bolt is compatible with the following brands: Yard-Man, Bolens, Craftsman, Yard Machines, Troy-Bilt, Cub Cadet, Huskee, Ryobi, Murray, MTD, MasterCut, and Montgomery Wards.

Shoulder screws are a type of fastener used in many types of lawn and garden equipment. Also called stripper bolts or shoulder bolts, they have a head, threads, and an unthreaded shoulder. Shoulder screws are made of durable metal but can still experience breakage or damage. When this occurs, the screws will need to be replaced. A wrench can be used to remove the damaged shoulder screw. First, visually inspect the shoulder screw to look for damage or corrosion. Sometimes, the screw will be entirely broken. If any of these things are present, a wrench can be used to remove the old shoulder screw. This is a flanged lock nut. It’s designed to apply tension, typically on a joint that needs to have a certain amount of flex. As such, it’s mostly used on snowblower chutes and lawnmower handles. They can remain in place, but with a forgiving connection that can take a beating. The nut size is 3/8, with a thread size of 16. A lock nut will generally last for many years. However, the silicone ring inside will wear down if it’s frequently tightened and loosened. It needs to be replaced when it will no longer reliably remain in place. Generally, this begins as a symptom of slight slippage and worsens as time goes on. Thankfully, whether it’s being used on a snowblower or a lawnmower, this nut is generally straightforward to access. Simply unscrew the old nut, then screw the new nut on until it’s nice and tight. Our flanged lock nuts are genuine OEM MTD nuts, and they are sold individually.
