This authentic OEM replacement on/off switch is a safety measure that manufacturers install to prevent the chainsaw or trimmer from starting before the operator is ready. It also allows the operator to stop their appliance at a moment's notice if they lose control of it. The on/off switch is located in or near the handle of the appliance and must be in the on position for the appliance to start. If hit to the off position, the appliance will immediately stop running. Switches can slowly wear out over time due to repeated use. When it wears out, the switch will no longer give the same amount of resistance and may be tripped more easily. This can be frustrating as it means that the operator would have to continually restart their appliance. To replace the switch, use a screwdriver to access the handle interior and detach the wiring from the old switch. Install the new part and reassemble.
