Added an additional light socket to the existing reflector. Changed the original 40 watt incandescent bulb to two 5 watt LED bulbs. It's actually bright enough for my old eyes now. Read more

Replaced the Humidity sensor, Thermistor and door switches. I replaced these thinking the problem was one of the items but didn't want to trial and error one part at a time. Plus the cost was reasonable so if these didn't help I wasn't out a lot of money. I sense the door switch was the problem. Replaced all items and the microwave works great. Contacted several local places, & on line. However none carried the part or made it difficult, which I realized they just didn't know how to look for the part I wanted. I contacted appliance parts, & they immediately found it & it was not as expensive as other places who did not stock it to begin with. They sent it right away, & I received it in less than 3 days. I searched the web and it seemed that many people had a similar problem when gunk got on the waveguide plate/cover. When I removed the cover, one of the plastic latches broke so rather than just trying to clean the plate, I had to order a new one. The new one arrived in just a couple of days, I put the plate on and at least for the last few days, no more arcing. <$10 fix for my over the stove microwave. Read more
