Scraper blade on my craftsman snow blower was worn to the point the bolts were gone and the blade was catching the augers Martin D. • Monroe , MI • February 11, 2022
Removed old scraper blade. Filed away bent edges where casing was worn. Installed new scraper blade and bolts. added a backing plate to body where erosion occurred. East repair. Best part was that big snowstorm was forecast for Wednesday night. 12-18 inches expected. Parts arrived on Wednesday morning, right at time predicted. I was up and running before the snow hit (actually only got 6 inches. So much for the Storm of the Century)

This is a flanged lock nut. It’s designed to apply tension, typically on a joint that needs to have a certain amount of flex. As such, it’s mostly used on snowblower chutes and lawnmower handles. They can remain in place, but with a forgiving connection that can take a beating. The nut size is 3/8, with a thread size of 16. A lock nut will generally last for many years. However, the silicone ring inside will wear down if it’s frequently tightened and loosened. It needs to be replaced when it will no longer reliably remain in place. Generally, this begins as a symptom of slight slippage and worsens as time goes on. Thankfully, whether it’s being used on a snowblower or a lawnmower, this nut is generally straightforward to access. Simply unscrew the old nut, then screw the new nut on until it’s nice and tight. Our flanged lock nuts are genuine OEM MTD nuts, and they are sold individually.

A flange lock nut, also known as a flange lock or a lock nut, is created to be used in various types of lawn and garden equipment. This flange lock nut holds other parts in place and, when properly threaded, will resist loosening. Over time, a flange lock nut may begin to weaken and may become loose or break. If it appears to be broken or weak, a replacement is required. Flange locks can be adjusted and uninstalled after use. When replacement is required, you may need a socket set, screwdriver, hacksaw, and butane torch. The socket wrench will loosen the bolt it is connected to, while the torch is used to heat the lock nut. A socket wrench may remove the nut, but sometimes cutting it with a hacksaw is required. This flange lock nut is a genuine OEM component directly from the manufacturer and comes in an individual unit. It is made of metal, a gold color, and can be found in various areas of lawn equipment. It works with lawnmowers, trimmers, snowblowers, cultivators, tillers, and leaf blowers by Poulan, MTD, Toro, Cub Cadet, Murray, Troy-Bilt, Bolens, Yard Machines, Craftsman, and Yard-Man.

This is a versatile screw designed with flanged hex head and double-lead threads. It is a high-low self-tapping screw with one thread that is high and the other low for easier penetration. The twin threads also reduce the amount of material displaced when the screw is driven into the material. This type of screw also creates a firmer grip. This screw can also be used to secure a newly installed front cover or grill. This part is available as an individual replacement part. It is a genuine OEM part for use with specific models of snow throwers, lawn tractors, electric mowers, chippers, and log splitters from Bolens, Cub Cadet, Craftsman, Poulan, Ryobi, Toro, MTD, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, and Yard-Man.

This knob is an OEM replacement part for MTD power equipment. The seat knob is responsible for adjusting the height of the seat to ensure a comfortable and safe position for the operator while using the lawn tractor. It is usually located on the side or the front of the seat and is connected to a shaft or linkage that controls the seat height adjustment.
Causes of a bad knob can include regular wear and tear from frequent use, exposure to harsh weather conditions, or accidental damage. These factors can lead to the knob becoming loose, cracked, or broken, making it difficult to operate the equipment effectively.
Symptoms of a bad knob include:
- Difficulty in turning or adjusting the knob
- The knob slipping or not staying in place
- Visible cracks or breakage
- The knob falling off during use
This MTD replacement part is also compatible with other brands and models within the MTD family, ensuring broad applicability for your outdoor equipment needs.
