Dryer would not turn on Kathie R. • Burlington , WI • January 15, 2016
The dryer is a Kenmore Laundry Center, model 417-99570150. Bought in 1998, so it is an older model. Not wanting to buy the newer ones that are out now. We opted to fix the Kenmore. Just believe the older models are worth fixing, if at all possible.
Frist we had to figure out what parts we would need and if the cost would be worth our time. I went on YouTube: and type in Kenmore dryer not turning on. Watched several videos to narrow down the possible problem.
Next step was to...

Being a complete DIY I hate to call some unknown person into my home knowing that just to get them there will cost me more than I will spend for parts that I don't need. After all, they are trying to make a living and by selling me parts that I don't need will increase their profits.
I've dealt with APP before and was impressed by their site because I could find both mechanical and electrical drawings for almost everything I have.

Drum stopped turning loud 60 hz hum from motor James S. • Winchester , TN • November 03, 2018
The very easy diagnosis was motor seizure. Because the machine is about a decade old, I decided to renovate most of the guts. My DIY project included replacing the motor, blower, drum bearing, belt, and door hinge. The end result is a functional dryer with no left-over parts.
Lack of parts and hardware challenged the effort. For example, the blower assembly did not have the slide capture for the motor. I had to use the old one which is showing its age. With the exception of the drum...

Clothes getting stuck in front of dryer then later on a grinding and loud noise when spinning Michael G. • Chicago , IL • August 23, 2020
I'm new to how a dryer works, so I just started taking it apart to see what exactly was causing it. The video examples on the APP website were all amazing. It gave me a good idea of what I was getting into and showed me the common repair issues. The dryer being 12 years old, I was on the fence about repairing or replacing. However, once I got a list of parts I might need and getting the confidence by watching the videos, I said "what have I got to lose."
The cause of the scraping and loud...

The Spin Bearing Washer is an OEM part for Frigidaire washing machines. Situated inside the transmission housing, this thin metal washer acts as a subsurface support for the belt pulley bearing. The spin-bearing washer facilitates smooth, balanced rotation essential for agitated and spun wash cycles.
Causes of a bad spin-bearing washer include wear and fatigue from years of successive rotations, potentially allowing excessive movement between housing components.
Symptoms of a bad spin-bearing washer involve:
- Vibration or shaking noises coming from inside the washer cabinet
- Belt slippage wasting energy by inefficiently spinning loads
- Increased friction resulting in longer cycle times for spins
- Failure of belts or other components from unsupported bearing
This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

The washer was filling very slow especially cold water. Wayne S. • Oakland , MD • February 10, 2023
This is my third repair of this type. The first was a stand-alone washer and was very easy, because there was a plate on which the inlet valve assembly was mounted, and it was easily removed. This repair was on a Frigidaire stacked washer/dryer (laundry center). Stacked washer/dryers are typically purchased to save space and are often tucked into a closet. Be sure you can pull it out to access both front and rear. Remove drain hose from drain, detach water hoses, electricity and dryer vent...

Frigidaire dryer door would not stay closed Carolina L. • Miami , FL • September 08, 2015
My dryer door would not stay shut because the door strike was stuck in the door catch. I was afraid that when I pulled the strike out, it would damage the catch, so I ordered the door strike and door catch.
I got the damaged door strike out with needle nosed pliers in about 15 seconds. The door catch was in perfect condition so I didn't need to use the one I ordered. So then I proceeded to install the new door strike. That took me about 15 minutes because I did not have the manual strength to...

The Ignitor Assembly is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire dryers. It serves as the ignition source safely firing up burners to initiate drying cycles.
Causes usually relate to the continual thermal shock experienced from heating and then rapidly cooling over extended use. As a foundational safeguard, ignitors require OEM replacement when arcing declines.
Symptoms of a faulty ignitor can include:
- The dryer fails to start or stop heating intermittently
- Cycles taking overly long to complete or feel uneven
- Excessive service calls relating to "no heat" troubles
- Risk of uncombusted gas pooling in dryer if ignition falters
This Frigidaire OEM replacement part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and some Kenmore models.

Gas smell in the dryer after a cycle completed no smell outside the dryer (until i opened the door!) Matthew M. • Mcfarland , WI • April 25, 2016
Frigidaire Gallery gas dryer from maybe 15 years ago. Based on the fact the the smell was only in the dryer, I concluded it must be the gas valve failing to completely seal when closed. After looking at the insides again, I suppose it is possible that it was a connection near the burner, but that stuff had remained untouched for 10 years so I still think I made a good assumption. I got a new ignitor as well since I was in there, and compared to the valve, it was cheap! I thought I could get in...

Grill on air duct had an item melt on to it and partially block air flow Charles C. • Orchard Park , NY • November 25, 2017
It was easy to find the part on appliance parts pros. Once I found it I studied the diagram and determined that there were 3 screws in the drum that needed to be removed.
