This pinion gear is an essential part of the steering assembly as it translates the rotation of the steering shaft into vertical motion. The pinion gear travels along the drivetrain, which pushes the wheels either forward or backward, causing the mower to turn. Without a functioning pinion gear, the mower will no longer steer. A pinion gear's teeth can slowly wear away through repeated use, causing it to begin slipping. When this happens, the operator will no longer be able to turn their mower as effectively or possibly not at all. This can be dangerous for the operator and they should stop mowing immediately. With most push lawn mowers, the pinion gear is located inside the wheel well. To replace it, simply remove the wheel and mounting washer, pop off the retaining ring, and remove the pinion. Reassemble and test the forward motion of the wheel. This genuine replacement OEM part is compatible with a number of lawn mowers from Poulan, Jonsered, Husqvarna, and Weed Eater. It comes sourced from the original manufacturer and does not include any additional hardware.
Chain won't stop when brake is engaged? This chain brake kit tightens around the clutch drum to stop the chain immediately on kickback. Moderate install.
Took the side cover off, noticed the chain brake assembly was damaged from the heat. Also after removing the clip securing the clutch drum I couldn't remove it. Had to use my biggest flat head screwdriver to force the drum off. The inner bearing was shot and the outer rim was worn with a lip on the bottom, reason it wouldn't come off the clutch. Because the parts were so worn out disassembly was difficult, but the new parts went on quickly. Soon I was back in business and the saw is working... Read more

The replacement mower arm brake pad is sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is used with lawn tractors and is made from metal with an attached brake pad. The arm connects to the idler arm, which helps the driver of the lawn tractor to control the machine's speed. It is an important part of the machine that needs to be in good condition. However, this part could start to wear out over time, just as would happen with brake pads for other vehicles. This could be due to the normal wear and tear associated with using the tractor, or it could be due to corrosion or breaking. Owners will likely require a wrench when replacing the mower arm brake pad. This is a genuine OEM replacement mower arm brake pad, and it is sold individually. The part is for use specifically with certain makes and models of lawn tractor. It will work with more than 150 different machines. Compatible brands include Husqvarna, Craftsman, Poulan, and Ariens.
This is a genuine OEM clutch assembly sourced directly from the manufacturer; it is used in lawn mowers and lawn tractors to engage the blades. When the gear lever is pulled, the clutch engages. This causes the pulley wheel to spring out and tighten the blades against the turning drive shaft pulley, which then causes the blades to spin. If the clutch assembly is not working correctly, the blades will not move to cut the lawn. If the blades will not engage or if they are stuck and won't disengage, the clutch assembly should be replaced. This can occur if the clutch assembly overheats. Excessive use and normal wear and tear can also be the cause of a bad clutch. Before working on the clutch assembly, make sure the engine has had time to cool off to prevent burns. Remove the fuel from the fuel tank and fuel lines. Remove the spark plug to prevent accidental engine starting. Park the machine on a flat surface and chock the wheels to prevent rolling. Remove and replace the clutch assembly, then reinstall all parts and fuel. Check the clutch after replacement to ensure it is working properly. This clutch assembly is sold as an individual unit. It is compatible with lawn tractors and tractors manufactured by Craftsman, Husqvarna, and Poulan.
