For Frigidaire Refrigerator Water Filter (Part Number: OEM7616916)

Confused for Model Number PLHS269ZCB2

Hi. First off, thanks for responding to all the Q&As; I have learned a lot. The question I have is regarding the water valve. In a few of the Q&As related to the water filter, it was mentioned that if there is an ice blockage, the valve 242252702 has failed. I am wondering what has the ice blockage got to do with valve failure? The issue I am having is that the water reservoir section (after the water filter going to the valve) gets frozen, and I am thinking it is because the fridge is too cold (at 0 setting, it's around 1ºC in the fridge), and perhaps the thermostat is broken. But, coming across your response in the Q&A is making me wonder whether I should replace the valve or the thermostat or both or diagnose further. FYI - I have checked and the valve does receive the 120V AC when the water dispenser is pushed, and I do get water when the fill line is not frozen. Thanks.

Hello Confused, thank you for contacting APP, Valve failure doesn't necessarily mean that the valve is no longer dispensing water, sometimes it can be that the valve is getting weak and not fully seating when it closes, thus allowing seepage past the valve that will eventually freeze in the line, or the seals where the lines connect to the valve are allowing in micro-air bubbles that can also cause freezing in the line. If you feel that the unit is getting too cold in the refrigerator section you may try checking the temperature in the freezer by sandwiching a thermometer between items, closing the door, and allowing the thermometer to acclimate for 5 minutes. If the temperature is significantly lower than it should be then replace the Freezer Temperature Control 5304496561 If it is significantly warmer than it should be you might want to check that the unit is defrosting and you don't have ice build up on the evaporator, if the evaporator is clear but the unit is too warm, you may have a sealed system issue. If the freezer section is at the correct temperature but the refrigerator section is too cold it may be that the Fresh Food Temperature Control 241537104 needs to be replaced.

Jo Ann, WIth the icemaker not working it will be one of 2 items causing this, either the icemaker itself is faulty or the water valve. You can test for 120 Vac at the water valve to make sure that there is power to it. If there is then the valve will be the issue and if there is not then the icemaker would be the issue. As far as service goes you would need to check with a local repair person as our company does not have over the road technicians.

Paul, If the beeping is coming from the dispenser area then try to unplug the unit for 5 minutes and plug it back up and see if the beeping goes away. If it does not then it sounds like a stuck key on the dispenser.

Rebecca, if the filter is locking into place when installed and the lock release button 240397301 lines up with the filter, the failure would likely be in the filter base 240396002 not locking properly. In regards to the water temperature, if the water supply is tied into the hot water supply it will dispense hot if the water has not been able to sit in the reservoir 240545302 long enough.

Hello Ancyna, without a model number, we will have to give a general answer for this, suggest you check the water chiller tank usually located behind the crisper drawers if it has frozen.

Charles, The filter could be clogged up which would cause the dispenser not to work. You will probably notice the icemaker not working as well. If it is just the dispenser not working then the water valve would be more likely.

Sam, It would really depend on where the leaking is coming from. You will want to determine the location of the leak because it could be a water tank leaking, water line leaking, or the filter that is faulty.
