Patrick May 14, 2022 for Model Number ZFGB21HZCSS 2013 era GE Monogram fridge. LEDs displaying temperature no longer function; right before the LEDs stopped displaying the fridge and freezer temp the unit beeped sporadically for days. Temperatures in the fridge and freezer are consistent, although the waterline in the fridge sometimes freezes up. Would like to start by getting LED temperature display back up - where do I best start?
1 Answer Patrick, it would be recommended that the temperature control board WR55X10684 is tested for incoming voltage. If it has 12VDC when measuring from the red wire to the blue wire, the temperature control would need to be replaced. The waterline in the refrigerator can freeze up if the refrigerator is set to less than 37°F as colder temperatures sink towards the bottom. Read More...
Tony January 15, 2021 for Model Number PFSS5NFWASS I have a GE Profile Refrigerator with French doors and the freezer on the bottom. The freezer operates consistently between 0 to -4 degrees or so, but the refrigerator temperature fluctuates sometimes rising to the mid 40's or higher. Once with the door left ajar for a weekend when we were out of town it rose to 80! It always seems to recover and operates normally for awhile, but then without any apparent reason the temperature again rises. I've cleaned the compressor coil and the fan is running without any noise. Any suggestions? The electronic temperature control panel is a on the top inside. Also, the door open alarm randomly beeps even when the door is secure, and I sometimes turn it off. Thanks!
1 Answer Tony, it would be recommended that the doors are inspected to identify if the gaskets are not seating fully. A door can be slightly ajar from an item preventing it from closing and this can create a small air gap allowing the temperatures to increase as well as cause the door switch to not fully press in. Randy January 10, 2021 for Model Number ZFGB21HZC SS GE monogram fridge model ZFGB21HZC SS with two freezer drawers on bottom and no touch screen/dispenser on outside. Unit is about 8 years old and had no known issues until the past month or so. Then noticed milk kept in fridge door bin did not seem as cold as normal, even though display setpoint and actual temp showed 37F. Lowered setpoint to the minimum 34F and milk still seemed not as cold. Put two good quality digital thermometers in fridge and one in freezer. Freezer agreed well at 0F, but both fridge readings were typically in the low to mid 40's with display showing 34F. Started checking: 1. Ran all diagnostics from temperature control panel inside fridge and everything passed, including thermistor check and communication link to main control board. 2. Pulled fridge out and checked resistance on all 4 thermistors (fridge, freezer, evaporator, outside room temp) at plug to main control board (power cord and thermistor harness plug both unplugged for readings). Freezer, fridge, and room temp thermistor resistances all as expected for the actual temperaures. So fridge display of actual temperture is for some reason consistently 8 to 10F colder what should be displayed based on the thermistor resistane being sent to the main control board and the actual temperature in the fridge. 3. Since I had already purchased a new thermistor expecting it to be the problem, I replaced the fridge thermistor with the new one. No change in performance. I didn't expect any. 4. Since the main control board is a "best seller" and common failure part per internet research, I ordered a new genuine GE part # WR55X11064 and replaced it. No change in performance. Ughhh. 5. To confirm this is just a control issue, I put the fridge thermistor inside its wall cavity and placed a thick towel in front of it to insulate it from the fridge. 30 minutes later the two digital thermometers were both reading 32F with the fridge still cooling and the display reading about 37F. So fridge has the ability to cool properly as I expected. 6. Removed thick towel and replaced with a folded up paper towel that I then taped over the thermistor cavity. The goal being to force a temperature bias in the opposite direction and allow the fridge dislay temp to more closely match the actual. This actualy worked well and the actual vs displayed fridge temps have agreed closely (1 to 2 degrees F) for 2 days now. So my questions: 1. Does anybody know for sure if the user control and display board (WR55X10684) has any control functionality? I assumed it was only an input/output board and all control functionality was on the main board where the thermistors are connected. However, if it actually has control functionality, I would think it is likely the cause of my problem. 2. Has anybody else had the issue where displayed and actual temps were so far out of agreement and the cause was something other than a bad thermistor? 3. Any other thoughts on the root cause of my problem? 4. Anywhere I can get the technical service guide for my specific fridge? I don't mind buying it, but can't find a source. I did find one for another monogram fridge, but there are significant differences vs. mine. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
1 Answer Randy, It would be suggested to ensure that you are getting a proper reading to test food temperature or water temperature. Take a glass of water and put it in the middle of the refrigerator section and then put your digital probe in it and see what reading you are getting. Taking air temperature can be deceiving and may not get completely accurate. The Display board should not cause the unit to not cool properly in the refrigerator section. Unfortunately, we do not have any service information for this unit. The main control board would be the most likely cause for this issue but that has been changed. Read More...
Elle November 05, 2020 for Model Number CFCP1NIZCSS The main board went out on this refrigerator; it was replaced and since then the temperature readings are high in the refrigerator (~56F) and low in the freezer (~-15) even though actual temperature in the refrigerator is ~25 and freezer is ~2. We have changed sensors with no change. Does this sound like the temperature board (this product) or the main board?
1 Answer Elle, as the refrigerator sensor WR55X10025 and freezer sensor WR55X10025 has been replaced, it would be most likely that the main control WR55X11064 is not registering the sensor resistances properly. It would be recommended that the wire connections are checked to ensure that they are secured fully. Read More...
Leonard August 07, 2020 for Model Number PFSS2MIXBSS The evaporator fan went bad and appeared to burn the resistor on the mainboard, so I replaced both. The fan is running, but only at one speed. When I turn on turbo cool nothing changes. Also went through diagnostics and the fan only toggled on/off and didn't vary speed. Not sure what controls the fan speed.
1 Answer Leonard, the main control is responsible for the fan speed and does so by adjusting voltage depending on the temperature within the refrigerator section. If the refrigerator is at the temperature set, it will operate at a lower speed. It would be recommended that the temperature within the refrigerator is identified with a thermometer as if it is too warm, the fan will only operate at a higher speed. Read More...
Michael Sculimbrene July 20, 2020 for Model Number PFIC1NFWCBV light is on inside, but nothing else. No sounds, no lights on the temperature control.
1 Answer Michael, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty control board which is part number WR55X10956. Read More...
John Dehart March 31, 2020 for Model Number PFIC1NFWBWV My freezer temperature is good all day but occasionally moves up above 0 and causes a solid ice tray..... otherwise its super cold and constant in both the freezer and the fridge.. I replaces the controller board, compressor board and all three temp sensors..... could this be the heater? It checked at 30 Ohms... Thanks.
1 Answer John, If the refrigerator and freezer are working properly but the temp only gets just above 0 degrees then this would be normal. If the unit is not cooling for an extended period of time then this would likely be an issue with the thermistor that is located on the evaporator coil which would be part number WR55X10025. Miguel September 13, 2019 for Model Number PFRS5NBXC SS The temperature display keeps changing on its own without touching it.
1 Answer Hello Miguel, I'm sorry but this appears to be an import model. We are unable to pull wiring diagrams and technical information on these models. It appears that there could possibly an issue with the user interface board but without technical information we cannot determine this definitely. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...
Christopher July 26, 2018 for Model Number ZFGB21HZSS My refrigerator was left open by a child and stopped cooling. I was able to fix that issue but every since the digital display does not show the temp but the buttons, adjust temperature, turbo cool, ETC, still make beeps when press. I bought a freezer thermometer and the temperatures are within range and it has been cooling just find for a few months after the incident. My current problem is that now it randomly beeps. It is not a steady or consistent pattern, either in timing or amount of beeps, and it is very frustrating. Sometimes it will beep in excess of 20 times in 10 seconds, other times it will not beep for hours with nothing being changed at all. Sometimes the temperature is in the mid to high 30's, others it is in the high 20's so it isn't a warning. What do I do? I was debating just altering the circuit board and disabling the beeping mechanism but if there is an actual problem and not just a short I do not want to ruin my fridge. Any help would be fantastic.
1 Answer Christopher, see if there is a way to turn on or off the displayed temperature, it may tell you how in your use and care guide. Read More...
Sam T. October 26, 2017 for Model Number Cfcp1nixass My fresh food section gets too cold an freezes a lot of produce and drinks. I replaced the temperature sensor but it is still too cold. I set the temperature control to the highest setting, but it didn't help. Does it sound like the damper is bad or the control board?
1 Answer Hello Sam, This is most likely the Main Control Board WR55X10956. If it were a bad air tower assembly WR17X12456, the unit would cut off when the fresh food compartment temperature sensor was satisfied and the freezer compartment would most likely warm up. Read More...
