John August 14, 2012 for Model Number WFW9400SZ01 My Whirlpool Duet front-loading washer (WFW9400SZ01) has worked well for almost four years. But it cannot start and then cannot power up recently. At beginning, it could not start when pressing start button and showed F70 error code. then I unplugged the power cord from the outlet on the wall and plugged it back, the washer got worse: when hitting the power button, it gave me a chime tone, nothing lights up at all. What is this problem? Thank you. John
1 Answer John, Your looking at couple of pssibilities. The door switch WP8183270, The CCU(central control unit) has to see the door open and close between cycles, if not it won't start. and you probably have an issue in the UIC (user interface control)W10319813. We'll send you the tech information so you can test the door switch circuit and run the diagnostics, to help pinpoint the siituation. Read More...
Kevin K. May 22, 2012 for Model Number wfw9400sw00 Sir, I got code F28 on my Whirlpool Duet, which is a Serial Communication Error. I inspected the electronic control board and it had some corrosion, which I cleaned off. The washer then started, progressed somewhat farther, but then again had code F28. Am I safe to assume the ECB is bad and needs replacement? Thanks, Kevin
1 Answer Hello Kevin, If you cleared the code once, it is possible to clean it a bit more completely and possibly get out of buying a new one. I would order part number CC-1 and clean both the contacts on the board and the contacts on the ends of the wiring harness where they plug in. I definitely have a problem with telling you to order the board when the issue could be the harness ends that plug into the board that contains the problem. Please Note: Unplug the unit and do not reapply power until ample time for drying has been allowed. If power is reapplied before the connections are dried, it will not only shoot the controls, but it could cause serious injury or death if you are in contact with the machine. If any more assistance is required, please don't hesitate to let us know. Read More...
Greg February 27, 2012 for Model Number WFW9400SW01 I have the Whirlpool Duet giving me the codes F71 and F70. Can you tell me what those are and what part number is the Central Control Unit? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Greg. The codes you provided are for loss of communication between the control boards. Make sure the connections on the control board are good and not broken. The part number for the CCU is WP8183259. Hope this helps. Read More...
Leonardo August 30, 2011 for Model Number WFW9400SW01 and WFW9200SQ02 Both of these units are giving me the same code F70 and sometime F22 both now is even worse...is not giving me any code. When I plugged it in and hit the power bottom ONLY is giving me a chime tone nothing lights up at all. I shut the door and all the wires are in place. I called Whirlpool but they said I need a pin number (for thechnical support). I can't even do a diagnostic test. I don't mind buying the CCU this case am going to need 2, but I hate to take a chance with my clients. Please, Any help will be appreciated ! I am a retired appliance technician with more than 40 yrs in the field, but this front load units are driving crazy. Thank you. Leonardo B.
1 Answer Hello Leonardo. Based on the codes you provided, it sounds like the CCU WPW10169230 for WFW9200SQ02, and WP8183259 for WFW9400SW01 is bad and will need to be replaced. The F70 is for heartbeat failure for the CCU. The F22 is the door lock, which is powered by the CCU. Hope this helps. Read More...
Leonardo August 29, 2011 for Model Number WFW9400SW01 When I was running the daignostic test was giving me a F70 code. Then after few times doing the same because was working intermittent, some times works sometimes does NOT work. Now is nothing does not display any codes any more. Now is giving me F22. Is driving crazy ! where should I start ? Thank you Leonardo
1 Answer Hi Leonardo. The F-22 code is because the drum sensed the basket full at the very beginning of the wash cycle. Try to spin the basket by hand and see if there are any obstructions stopping the tub. If you need to go to the back and remove the back cover. Try to spin the tub from the rear pulley. Clear all obstructions. Now the F-70 code. It Is a lost communication from the user interface to the C.C.U. It suggest to replace the C.C.U. part # is 5304456174. If the drum is not turning replace the user interface part # is W10319813. The wiring harness part is # W10319813. Thank you. Read More...
